Question People outside of USA who do you like your country's depiction in WOD lore?

Nobody likes their country's depiction in WOD lore. This even includes parts of the US (Appalachia *cough cough* Dark Colony *cough cough* New Orleans subway *cough cough*)
Wouldn't have killed them to do a little research.

Yeah all of that about research is true. In our case (from Chile btw) it feels like they didn't research at all because they didn't touch on much. All they referenced was Santiago, our capital city, and said the sabbat were having trouble in the south. Feels like they could have touched on some other things about our country, but we're probably not that important in their whole plan for the plot of the world.

Not a fan of their decision to inexplicably make a Garou tribe of thylacines when dingos were right there on the table?

I can understand it on the level of using an extinct species for an extinct tribe, but yeah your point still stands
(Ironically, a B-level horror cult classic, The Howling III, played on the same theme of were-thylacines)

What would a were-kangaroo in Crinos look like, I wonder?

Rage Across the Amazon has so much bullshit it turns around and gets funny to read. Still a baaad book for any brazillian reader.

It's a game, largely written before the advent of the internet. I'm not so fond of Western depictions in Anime and Manga - that doesn't mean I'm so privilieged to think that should impact the enjoyment of those who do find joy in those mediums.
Those aren't the myths of Europe and the Americas either - they are game concepts, many of them exceptionally inventive and creative. That's the value and worth and why VtM is the second best selling RPG of all time, and the game worlds are still dynamci and evolving 35 years later. Hell, even the discontinued lines have support in the Storyteller's Vault due to the passion of the fans of the creation.

They never get Brazil right in any foreign media, let alone 90's WoD.

Brazil, that's the place with all the Favelas and then the amazon jungle right outside right?

the UK and Western Europe did well out of it, but there is a lot of available material for the Cold War etc. We also did better out of the Medievil setting but that was built on all the material that existed for Ars Magica in research. ( so the team literally had more of a clue)

I'm new to WoD. So i don't know most of the lore stuff on my country (France) but when i saw a "small" resume of it i was upset but not surprised by the predominance of Paris.

As a German not much. The Dark Ages depictions of 13th century Europe are bad and historically incorrect. The Berlin by Night is just awful with all the Nazis.
I love the Ventrue and Hardestedt, though. 😊
We usually play homebrewed because the regular rules won’t fit for settings in Germany.

All I know about Serbia's depiction in WoD is that Belgrade is ruled by the Sabbat.

For Italy basically everything comes down to Anglo-Saxon stereotypes about the Roman Empire, renaissance, mafia and the Catholic Church… and of course the Giovanni (which is the Italian name translating to “John”) being a mix of all of the above (plus Venice).
It’s very shallow, really, but there were some cool bits (like the Sabbat and the Camarilla basically playing political games that started centuries before with each other instead of going all out violence).

As much as I don't like the sabbat i can admit that at least they have "helped" over here in Chile.
From what I remember in lore they control all of it, though they are having trouble with people in the south of the country, and because of their influence they control every major company which allowed them to easily industrialize the entirety of Chile. This led to the middle class actually living pretty well and no major problems occurring.
As long as you don't live in Santiago or near a mayor factory / industrial complex in the south of the country you'll live well and without any stand out issues.

Waiiit, it's weird to me that the Sabbat "helped" in Chile. For a place with a group controlling every major company, wouldn't it be way more interesting for them to not be especially popular with at least a significant group of workers who'd likely go Maoist-Leninist or similar brand of Communist?
I mean Communist, but not lunatics like Sendero Luminoso.

Well from what I gathered the reason they helped is because they saw value in the mines and different industries in the country as well as taking the opportunity to block all US (Camarilla) companies from trying to get a foothold.
They do experience resistance from ecoterroristic Lupines and they might be getting help from Camarilla or Autarkis Gangrel.

I’ve never heard of any New Zealand splatbooks (if you say Australia’s good enough your life is forfeit). So I just kinda made it all up myself.

From Vancouver, Canada and had a great time reading the Vancouver source book (don't know about any other Canada specific lore).
For me it hits just the right mix of mostly real facts about Vancouver (including a bunch old night clubs that don't exist anymore), and absolutely insane WOD lore, the three standouts for me are the antediluvian under Simon Fraser University, the malkavian who runs a giant secret occult library under gastown, and the fact that there's something in Victoria (possibly very nice satanists) That is so terrifyingly dangerous that vampires never make it back alive and even garou almost never go there and when they do they come back changed.
Not an expert on local first nations peoples but the book dose at least mention the groups I was taught about in school (wouldn't surprise me if they fucked up somewhere and I'm to ignorant to spot it but they at least did some cursory research into pre European history)
also theirs some of the art on page 36 that is just perfect
