They are EXTREMELY different in terms of tone, presentation and rules. I played the earlier editions for years, but they never truly clicked for me. W5 did. W20 is presented as basically a cartoon. W5 takes a more serious tone, which I prefer.

I also greatly prefer W5’s rules.

But really, it’s apples and oranges. They changed a lot with W5. In many ways it’s sort of a re-envisioning. And a lot of people wanted W5 to be a copy and paste of W20, and got mad when it wasn’t.
