Russian ambassador to Bulgaria with her small classic handbag during the elections.

No offense and I get why we all dislike Russian ambassadors but aren't non Russian ambassadors also loaded to a degree?

u/Swolyguacomole Mar 18 '24
Yeah, ambassadors make a lot of money. Combine that with a partner that likely makes good money too.
14
u/ExtraTrade1904 Mar 18 '24
For all that talk of them being diplomatic, ambassadors being arrogant twats is pretty common

u/yabucek Slovenia Mar 18 '24
Spot on, every time I see a diplomat they appear as prime douchebags. Never quite though about the fact that they're supposed to represent their country in a good light.
Especially noticeable on the road, with their black german cars driving like people in black german cars do.

You’re allowed to post them.. it’s not against the rules

u/AnteaterBorn2037 Mar 18 '24
Did i say smth to contradict that?

u/mandingo_gringo Україна Mar 19 '24
yes, you got mad at a post about Russians because you yourself are a Russian.
3
u/AnteaterBorn2037 Mar 19 '24
... No? I am no Russian but sure I have Russian family even though I never lived there in my life.
Doesn't mean that I don't I hate Putins regime and the illigal invasion and occupation of Ukraine? I just wanted to point out that it shouldn't be surprising to see any ambassador being loaded, as you know, it's a well paying job. That's not unique to Russia

u/Jeythiflork Mar 18 '24
Oh no, ambassador has money. Surprised pikachu

Russian ambassador to Bulgaria are not that highly paid to be able to afford a $9k bag.
But they know how to take bribes though …
24
u/takesthebiscuit Mar 18 '24
The median US ambassador pay is $191,000.
That’s Chanel handbag money
5
u/hamsterdamc Mar 18 '24
Glass door says $94k but I think it's harder to determine an Ambassador salary unless you are one.
11
u/SovietBear4 Mar 18 '24
Honestly, level with me here, do you HONESTLY believe an american ambssador is making less than 100k/year?
4
u/hamsterdamc Mar 18 '24
Depends. They might be making a $94k base salary, and then massive allowances bump them into a sub $250k figure.
Plus, most are already rich anyway, and everything is catered for (food, residence, security, transport).
1
u/SovietBear4 Mar 18 '24
250? These guys must make at least 300, considering the ambassador position is, above everything, a political nomination
4
u/takesthebiscuit Mar 18 '24
What nonsense! I clearly said ambassador, not the army of consular staff that will average the number down considerably!

Dunno what’s wrong with that

u/panzerdevil69 Deutschland Mar 18 '24
A lot is wrong with a handbag for 10k

u/Breaditta Morava Mar 18 '24
I mean beside cheaper resales, you can't even tell if its real from the pic.... I'm all in for critizing Russia but there are far bigger things to focus on than an expensive bag.

Yeah, can’t account for good taste, but seriously have you ever seen a frugal ambassador?

Tell me a single high level politicians that lives paycheck to paycheck. Singling out a Russian ambassador solely for this is disingenuous to say the least lol. We have in the West all these senators and congressmen that are direct investors in companies they should hold accountable. Let's not act like we all have a democracy, the rich everywhere are the decision makers, the only thing is that in Russia they don't bother to do it from the shadows lol

u/panzerdevil69 Deutschland Mar 18 '24
Meh, a 10k handbag is fucked up. Doesn't matter who wears it

A lot of ambassadors wears luxury items, not just russian. Why all the fuss in this case and not the others ? Looks like it's just to antagonize Russia, but if you want to do that take meaningful example at least.

u/SaltyInternetPirate България Mar 19 '24
And? Do we expect a poor person with no money or power to be an ambassador for a modern nation?
9
u/Miffl3r Mar 18 '24
Why do we even maintain any russian diplomatic spying outposts in the EU?

u/imbirowawiedzma Mar 18 '24
Not to defend Russia, but this is a different bag. The pattern on her's is straight, while the original is diagonal.

u/hesitantshade Россия Mar 18 '24
this one still has the chanel symbol on, so it's still chanel
or it's a knockoff, which is (kind of) even worse

u/Humble-End-7891 Shqipëria Mar 18 '24
Nothing to do with Russians, as if ambassadors of other countries don't have the same money
2
u/Elven_Groceries Mar 18 '24
Anyone who buys that, is the problem and should be converted in mushroom food.
2
u/InaMel Mar 18 '24
Bag enthusiast here… don’t care about politics but respect the Chanel bag.
Looking at this picture it’s an older model who retail second hand at 1500€-1800€…

She works very hard, ok ? Do you know how difficult it is to make 5m people hate you ?

And she still doesn't look stylish at all. Quite the opposite in fact.

lol all the Ivan’s come out to defend their corrupt ambassador
“It’s normal guys don’t you know??! What about YOURS!??!! 10,000? That’s nothing in mother Russia average person makes this in 1 hour”

u/Meelker Sverige Mar 18 '24
Based on the lack of shine, her overall appearance and the overall mindset of russians, my guess would be that this bag is worth about 10 EUR on any given street corner.

I’d imagine that even a shithole like Russia pays its ambassadors quite well. At least considering how they have to degrade themselves to push the Kremlin agenda
