I confess I don't know what I am looking at it here.

SKG is an EU petition (European citizen initiative) that push to protect consumers rights in the gaming market. Remember to use your vote on that platform, as a citizen it's your right to support initiatives that you deem important.

Well, yes I know that, but I didn't know what has the Polish Government to do with it.

Well, the petition was to bring it to the European parliament for a vote. It succeeded.

Now it was time to check and sway parliament members and their parties to vote for the bill. Polish government who are a mix of center right and center left officially supporting it means their colleagues of similar ideologies are also likely to get behind the bill.

Obviously center-right and center-left are the two biggest factions in the European parliament. Centrists in between them can be expected to act in a similar way. Greens and left-wing are already willing to approve anything hurting corporate feelings so the situation looks pretty good.

The Glory of Europe is in its Democratic Institutions. Lets defend them with our bare teeth and we will be rewarded in the long run!

I think SKG is a Russian psy op distraction tbh

Edit: asking me what and blocking me before I can respond is a good way to confirm my beliefs 😄

What?

How and why ?

Look at Ross’ stance on Ukraine. Then realizing nobody is killing games, they’re just games. But Russia is definitely killing Ukrainians. Perfect outrage bait and distract

u/GreenScale63 Helvetia‏‏‎ ‎ 4d ago

They might be just games but they're still important to us, I'd love for this to pass and work, I'd even sign it if I could but I'm not european.

As for this being a distraction, I'm not so sure, it's a valid problem to shine a light upon and bringing this to the light does not overshadow the war in Ukraine. The real problem is the media, most chase whatever hot topic they can get their hands on to maximise their relevancy and they purposefully chose to speak less about Ukraine. Pretty sure the blame falls on Media and not on an initiative like that one.

As for Ross's stance on Ukraine, I do not know it.

It's horrible what's happening in Ukraine, and I hope we, as humans, eventually will come to find a solution, whatever it may be, to put an end to Russia's invasion in your country.

Yeah imagine if you looked up his stance before replying

u/GreenScale63 Helvetia‏‏‎ ‎ 4d ago

Do you have any links to sources where I could learn about his stance ?

As for whatever he may think, be it that he turns out to not care about the awful things that are happening to Ukraine or he gave up, it only makes him bad in that regard and deserving of constructive critiscism but it does not invalidate the initiative for which so many people signed, it's something positive and while he may be a bad person, which I don't know if he is, the initiative does not look like it is meant to overshadow the war in Ukraine.

Yeah check out this thread. https://www.reddit.com/r/accursedfarms/comments/1i7qhjl/rosss_opinion_on_the_war_in_ukraine/

You could have easily found it yourself, ask yourself why you didn't

16

u/GreenScale63 Helvetia‏‏‎ ‎ 4d ago

Do you need to be so agressive ? I'll check it out but wow...

-5

u/DurangoJohnny Волинська область 4d ago

What can I say, I am legitimately upset that Ukrainians are being killed while Europeans whine about "games being killed". Yes, I need to be aggressive because apparently none of you are actually paying attention.

21

u/GreenScale63 Helvetia‏‏‎ ‎ 4d ago

And yet I took the time to talk with you and try and understand why something that barely overshadows what's going on in ukraine was upsetting you and if you might be right, which I can't rightfully believe. (The claim that it's a plan to make people look elsewhere.)

It's horrible what's happening in Ukraine but not only is Europe at least doing something to help, they've acknowledged Russia's actions as being wrong, if they did more it would be great.

However life goes on and we all have our problems.

I hope Russia will one day, as soon as possible, get what they deserve for what they're doing.

Guys you've heard it, it's now illegal to have problems because someone somewhere on Earth has bigger problems

0

u/DurangoJohnny Волинська область 3d ago

Somewhere on Earth is a pretty funny deflection considering this is the YUROP sub and I'm talking about Ukraine

12

u/GOKOP 3d ago

Missing the point. You're essentially saying that it's wrong to care about something because there are bigger more serious things to care about. I'm saying that's bullshit and you're allowed to care about things that affect you even when it's not the most important thing in the world. It's possible to care about multiple things.

0

u/DurangoJohnny Волинська область 3d ago

I'm saying it's wrong to call it "Stop Killing Games" because it's performative outrage when actual people are being killed en masse, and games are simply not living, and cannot be killed. Second it aligns perfectly with Russia's stance, seen clearly in Ross's "both sides" and inability to even suggest that Ukraine should defend itself. No actual desire to interact with the institutions that affect these things, just bitch n moan and hope daddy does something.

13

u/GOKOP 3d ago

Well sorry then but I don't care about you being autistic about the word "killing", if there's a game that existed and suddenly it can't ever be played again by anyone till the end of time then I consider it accurate to say that it was killed.

And I don't know nor care what Ross said about Ukraine, I don't even care about that person in the slightest; he could get hit by a bus and I wouldn't bat an eye. I just want games that people paid for to remain playable for them.

-1

u/DurangoJohnny Волинська область 3d ago

Yeah I can see why you fall for this stuff so easily, great vibes

10

u/KombatCabbage Yuropean‏‏‎ ‎ 3d ago

As horrible as things are there, not everything has to be about Ukraine

-5

u/DurangoJohnny Волинська область 3d ago

It sure doesn't, so call it "Game Preservation Initiative" or whatever instead of farming outrage away from where it's needed. Or just get together and buy the rights for those games, learn how to develop them, that sort of thing.

11

u/KombatCabbage Yuropean‏‏‎ ‎ 3d ago

These aren’t competing narratives or issues, like at all, nobody compares them in any sort of way and its name has no effect that would make it comparable, and if anyone wants to care about either of these, they will, regardless of how this initiative is called (and conversely, nobody is going to not care about Ukraine because SKG is called SKG)

-2

u/DurangoJohnny Волинська область 3d ago

They are in fact competing for attention, and I am comparing them right now. Anyone can compare them. It’s not a coincidence that evidence of Ross’s horrific stance on Ukraine is what it is.

What is your stance on israel/palestine?

0

u/DurangoJohnny Волинська область 3d ago

I'm not Israeli or Palestinian, so I have no personal stake in it, but it seems like a 2-state solution would be the best. Any other questions you'd like to ask outside the scope of this sub?

3

u/a_naked_BOT Niedersachsen‏‏‎ ‎ 3d ago

Kmao condescending like always

I wouldnt say the Israel/Palestine conflict is any less relevant on this sub than the Russia/Ukraine conflict

0

u/DurangoJohnny Волинська область 3d ago

Yeah one is only inside Europe and the other outside of it, why prioritize when you can what about instead

3

u/a_naked_BOT Niedersachsen‏‏‎ ‎ 3d ago

A) we can do something about that conflict aswell and it is just as relevant for europe on a cultural level

B) Just admit that you only care about ukraine cause they are your people and you couldnt care less about the suffering of any other marginalised group of peoples

1

u/DurangoJohnny Волинська область 3d ago

A) clearly not lol

B) I don’t only care about Ukraine, I just care A LOT fucking more because I’m Ukrainian and gee, so is my whole family
