Other YSK That many people with a disability consider their aides (wheelchair, etc.) an extension of themselves. You should ask before touching or moving them.

Read this article and was surprised to hear how many people struggle with this. Even if you are trying to help, you should ask first.

No prob! It gets confusing when you start talking about the aides who are moving the aids. ;)

Even more confusing when you add AIDS to the equation...

Aha I commented before seeing this.

South Park does a pretty hilarious episode with this

Edit: it's "jared has aides" S6E1

Did they ever do a follow-up episode after he went to jail?

I'm like 5 seasons behind.

Uhh not really but they did do some jokes about it

There's a time when Cartman fights the PC frat, and he sends in all this "un-PC" stuff in.

(Like taco launchers to attract pregnant Mexican women, who then have babies which attracted Jared)

When I was a kid in the 80s, we had my father’s quadriplegic friend living with us for a while. He always had aides coming in and helping. Also, the TV news was always talking about AIDS. I was very confused about it all.

Though it's unclear whether they consider them an extension of themselves

2

u/goodbyekitty83 Jul 19 '20

Also be ayds is a pill to help with appitite and AIDS is a disease.

Was there a need to reply? Or did you just want to?

Was there a need to be an insufferable dick? Get off your high horse.
