Other YSK That many people with a disability consider their aides (wheelchair, etc.) an extension of themselves. You should ask before touching or moving them.

Read this article and was surprised to hear how many people struggle with this. Even if you are trying to help, you should ask first.

My rule with service dogs is I don't even look at them. I purposefully avert my gaze becuase I am not going to be the reason someone gets hurt.

This. Service dogs are amazing but they are living animals and can therefore be distracted by their environment and unfortunately people cooing and making kissy noises or offering treats (yes have literally dealt with this) will absolutely have a huge risk of distracting and even if it's not a full distraction its an extra thing the dog is now dealing with which can be the difference between giving a handler adequete warning and not.
