That was a fun thing to spot on a hike in Cyprus. The dam was completed in 1966. Still in use, but unfortunately due to a climate catastrophe it’s dried out and empty. The views are stunning tho!

Pozdrav r/yugoslavia!
No je li Kongres uspio u svojem naumu?

Hi everyone — a few weeks ago, I shared my YouTube documentary, 'Beginner’s Guide to Ex-YU Music,' but unfortunately, the video was taken down due to copyright claims. I’ve since reuploaded an edited version, and wanted to share it here again for anyone who missed it the first time.
It’s a 15-minute introduction to the music of the former Yugoslavia, covering everything from 70s rock and jazz to 80s new wave, punk, and funk. Along the way, I touch on bands like Bijelo Dugme, Haustor, Idoli, Indexi, EKV, and Šarlo Akrobata.
I run a small blog at exyumusic.org and made this as a beginner-friendly entry point. It’s a personal project and a first attempt at a YouTube video at that - hence the DIY production. But I hope it offers some value, especially for those who want a starting point into the region’s music or are interested in lesser-known records.
I would love to hear your thoughts and any recommendations for records/artists to check out next!

Hello dear comrades from all over ex Yugoslavia! As I'm asking this question here, there are mass student protests all over Serbia. With everything going on, looking at the current left wing parties and organizations:
SKOJ/NKPJ (Nova Komunistička Partija Jugoslavije), RKS (RCI section for Yugoslavia), Marks21, PRL (Partija Radikalne Levice), Politsturm - these are the biggest ones/famous ones/ are actually not doing much or nothing at all
I'm currently associate of Marks21, and let me say.... Sometimes they organize discourses with audience of 20 people max (not counting M21 members), sometimes they share boring News Papers at protests and try to talk to some people to get their attention which is kinda getting cringe at this point to be honest. They have like 20 people who are real members. They used to have 40/50 back in the day but there was a huge split in 2020 when everyone left the organization, leaving only 4 people in it
And other organizations mentioned above, are at the same level with members, activities ect.. Most of Yugoslav left hate these organizations and meme them around on Instagram (politigramu)
TL;DR: Current Organizations in Ex Yugoslavia weak - Question from the title

Now, during my time as mod I came billion times on people from other countries in Yugoslavia stating about this sub and how it's pro-Serbian, anti-everything else. I wouldn't know if I will agree with them, hence asking the question, because to my knowledge the Serbian mod has abandoned it completely, there's one Croatian person but incognito- he hasn't made any counterclaims though, or anything, and I have my stress-testing of outer external communities- not this one, when I got flooded with all sorts of offensive comments because I'm neurodivergent person.
What I mean is, I have karma points- and I used them outside this community (with some heh mistakes here, it happens to all)-and in Slovenia I got banned for literally writing non-sense, like stupid funny absurd thing which are only funny to you when you have some experience with their government first-hand, so you wanna troll them, right? I went on r/slovenia and wrote them: What do you think about Yugoslav communists renaming your city to Skopska Ljubljana? etc, etc. But like spam. Of another level. I'm still banned there, but no issue- I deserved it. However, I had not one single person coming from there- wasting time and throwing punches on this community. Very important.
I went to Croatian subreddit because I was honestly curious about how Croatians view the SFRY times, etc, we had very beautiful disagreements with people who're not communist, but know how to converse. That was refreshing- I love that. Simply debating, etc- learning more about their PoV. Not one single person from there, idk-what these littleserbians who started attacking me think (or how seriously they read anything and get offended because - huh)... but, not one of them came and bothered me on this subreddit. Because what I do there, might be on purpose, might not be- it's a different community, right?
If I go on r/trump for example and say something and comment in the moment, support some decision of his, it doesn't mean I'm automatically a Trumpeteer. Just saying. I'm anti-Vučić until he's alive, dear students and all who is reading- and thought I was serious last weekend. LOL. Extreme? Yeah, that for sure, but not serious intents. Evol intent, not evil.
Anyways, for some to receive comments as schizo, psycho, this-that, I stopped counting really. For what? But what if I honestly switched side- and kind of agree with Serbian government now? That's my own right to do so. I don't think any more positive about the students in the last, hmm, last half of the month really.
What's funny is that I had invitation from Interpol in Serbia for writing some gibberish to the Vučić government on some US embassy profile on social media, a thing I do not even recollect at all, but on Reddit you can get nuked as a mod because on the weekend, you might've had bit of rakija and some... you know, and right away- some comes, and oh: you criticise Serbia? No, no- bye. LOL.
Now I just wanna ask - we all know that Serbia is the biggest country in Yugoslavia, actually I'm applying for citizenship there soon, after I get shit done- but I was wondering about this? Is that big-Serbian segment that ultimately destroyed Yugoslavia, caused war in Bosnia, in Croatia, in Kosovo, everywhere literally... is it also present here?
What do you think?

[You should learn] Serbo-Croatian!
My top 10 reasons:
10: The food. Food across the former Yugoslavia is SO GOOD. Pljeskavica beats burger every day. (Especially when it’s stuffed with cheese 🤤)
9: It uses TWO SCRIPTS! Isn’t that awesome? More about that later, but I love using both scripts in one conversation. (In practice, Latin script is used the vast majority of the time in all of the ex-Yugoslav countries, but people in 3 countries can also switch to Cyrillic anytime!)
8: It’s (technically) tonal. I see you’re a Cantonese native, so this won’t be too bad haha. Of course this is never taught, and it really does not matter, but if you wanna put in a fuckton of hours, you can master the pitch accent system! (Western dialects for the most part lacks pitch accent.)
7: You can already distinguish between the two most annoying letters in the alphabet! Even Croatians have a hard-ass time with this. Ć and Č (in Cyrillic: Ћ and Ч) bug me to this day… č → like 吃 (chī), ć → like 七 (qī) in pinyin. So easy!
6: You can already distinguish between the second most annoying pair of letters! Croatians have less of a hard time with this but Dž and Đ (in Cyrillic: Џ and Ђ) bug me less. dž ≈ zh in zhī (知). đ ≈ j in jī (鸡).
5: The TV show Krv Nije Voda is such a terrible TV show, that it accidentally became comedy gold. Would ABSOLUTELY recommend. Also, once you get to higher levels, there is an insane amount of TV on Youtube from Serbia on RTS.
4: The girls. Nuff said. They’re beautiful, and they do love to talk — it’s a very extroverted culture. (If you end up going on dates, it’s a very nice way to practice. You just have to be able to hold a natural conversation — I haven’t reached quite that level yet that I would feel like i wouldn’t make myself to be a complete idiot speaking in front of a romantic interest, even in English I’m like that 😅)
3: The writing system. It is based on the principle “Write as you speak, speak as it is written.” Literally once you learn both the Latin pronounciation and the Cyrillic alphabet, you can immediately start sounding out words and be 100% correct.
2: The insults and swears. I am convinced that this language is the best for swears on this planet. “I impale you on my dick!” is a common phrase. The powerful, rapid, and brutal swears are OP. “U pičku materinu” is iconic. Take a look at my post history and you’ll find a short guide.
1: The cultural warmth. Seriously, I’ve never seen people accept me with open arms for making an attempt to learn their language. Instant connection, instant happiness, instant joy, and dear friendship. I’m friends with a good number of folks because I tried to learn the language. I got to a level where I can understand well and answer either somewhat fluently most of the time (I’d say about a B2). I was a little worried being in Montenegro, but slowly, I took my time to get used to it.
Not so many people choose to learn this beautiful language, especially people of color. Usually it’s either those with an ex-Yugoslav partner or diaspora kids. I’d recommend being one of the few who learns Serbo-Croatian out of interest.
EDIT: original post/comment: https://www.reddit.com/r/languagelearning/comments/1n21z2f/. Let’s have this guy learn Serbo-Croatian so feel free to go and upvote this!

I admit that my work isn't very serious (especially towards the end 😂), but that's the point of the format. I'm open to criticism, so maybe I'll rework it ? Oh, and I'd like to avoid arguments my goal is not to offend anyone.
