Staying on Kasprowy Wierch past the 1 hr 40 scheduled return...

The lift tickets have a scheduled return at 1 hr 40 minutes after arrival at the top. If you miss that return, do you wait on standby for space in other cars? Anyone have any experience with that? Thanks!

(We want to hike around a bit up there and not be rushed, but don't have the knees to hike all the way down. And given that two one way tickets is almost twice the cost of a return, I'd love to hear if we have other options. We're willing to wait around for a ride if needed... we've got more time than money, lol.)
