Same, I just keep stocking up 7n6 cans whenever I can

It’s kinda crazy, if you told me 7N6 would be the cheapest option 10 years after the ban I would have never believed it. I’ve got a ton of that and Vympel

Why do some of the folding trunnions do not have a hole in the center?

I used a Russian 5.5mm rear trunnion and couldn’t find the hardware so had to get it second hand. This hardware set came like that, not sure why. The originals have a hole in them

Shot my 5.45 today, it's crazy that it's the same price to shoot my .308 saiga now, which I also have been giving some attention to finally

I’m paying about 45 cents a round of 7n6

I do see some spam cans local to me for $500. I am kind of spoiled by non-corrosive ammo now.

Is it just me or is the TWS dog leg rail installed incorrectly? The bar that goes into the rear sight block is supposed to lay flat, not angle up like in the picture.

I’m all over the forums trying to trade my NATO ammo stash for commercial 5.45. Not as much around as I’d like.

Y would someone give up on it?

Because 5.45 is more expensive than 5.56 and has extremely similar ballistic performance. However, 5.56 has slightly higher velocities and more energy on target.

5.45 is softer and has better ballistics on short barrels.

Softer is a hard maybe, though I personally have shot 5.45 AKs and ARs a lot as well as 5.56 AKs and ARs, and I can't notice literally any difference on recoil impulse. I suppose that's setup dependant and YMMV.
As for barrel length, while that may be true (i haven't been able to find a comprehensive list of velocities for various barrel lengths for 5.45), on 16" and 14.5" barrels, 5.56 still beats out 5.45 on velocity and has more energy on target.

Yes, the cost is out of control. 👍👍 to those who hoarder the 7n6 round.

5.45 yaws better and doesn’t depend on velocity like 5.56 does because of the empty space left in the bullet. 5.56 is ass when it doesn’t have the right bullet and enough velocity to tumble. 5.45 doesn’t have that problem.
5.45 is objectively a better round. It just takes more effort to get.

Because the old surplus ammo is not coming back and while there’s lots of people making 7.62 and 5.56 and all types of ammo from hp sp to fmj and grain weights of all sizes we have like 2-3 5.45 makers most new stuff is either tela or hornady. I’m still finding 7n6 around 35 to 45 cpr thank god.

I've been absolutely itching to get one. It's almost the same price as 7.62 at this point...
How does it feel comparatively to 5.56?
