Some Space Shots from Barberton

Hi Akron, I’m an amateur astrophotographer, living in Barberton. I thought this might be a place to share some shots I’ve taken over the last couple of months from my backyard.

I posted my Blood Moon Eclipse photos back in March (see post history) and thought y’all might like to see what’s been up in the sky since then. All photos taken with my Seestar S50 (which I’ve named Ziggy Seestar).

Akron Race Series question - how to physically get the medal?

So according to the websites I've seen, if you sign up and finish each of the 3 Akron races in the series this year (the 8k, 10k/Half, and the Marathon/Half/Team Relay) you should get this series medal. But how do you actually pick it up? It won't just be at the finish of the marathon because then how would you prove you did the other 2 races, right? Do we have to email someone or fill out a form? Will it be mailed?

It's a very cool medal, I've just got no idea how I'm supposed to actually obtain it?

Nicest gym or wellness center with sauna and (optional) indoor pool

I’m preparing for my SAD to creep up. (I know we’ve only had one cold day).

This winter I need to move my body and sauna… wouldn’t also mind swimming.

What’s the cleanest nicest place to do that?

I’ve tried Kohl Family Y, Esporta and the Nat…. Looking for somewhere else that will fill all or some of these needs…

White supremacy flyer

While driving past the corner of Killian and Main, near IBH and Portage Lakes, I saw a flyer on the back of a stop sign that read, "Stand Up White Man!"

Does this mean Akron has a white supremacy problem?

Downtown to InfoCision - safe to walk?

Just picked up tickets for me and 11 year old daughter to attend the game Thursday night. Staying downtown at Blu-tique. Is the walk to/from the stadium a bad idea? I am aware of the free parking at campus lots, but the distance is easy as long as it’s safe. Appreciate your recommendations.

Good places hiring right now?

Hi all, I just moved back to Akron after being away for about 5 years, and am looking for a job to make some cash for the next few months while I transition into something better.

It seems as though a good few places I’ve applied to aren’t actually hiring or were just data farms. I’ve received very few constructive responses, but have received a massive influx in spam calls, texts and emails.

I have a decade of work experience from customer service to armed security. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unique/local options are ideal; not super into giant corporation jobs (AKA do not care if you live or die jobs).

Thanks 330 😃

Plumber

Hey guys I’ve had bad experiences with Wilson plumbing and Jackson Comfort services. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good one man show plumber in the Ellet area or a quality and reasonable company they would recommend?

Does Akron have a punk/goth/alternative/arts scene?

I am a 27 year old artist. I currently live in the midwest and I want to move to a bigger city with more opportunities and closer access to larger cities. I am looking for a place that has a punk/goth scene. I love going to punk house shows and goth nights. I love art so artistic people to befriend, galleries, museums, collectives, art fests and conventions, "final/first fridays" events are important to me.

I love that Akron seems to have more affordable victorian style houses, so that gives me hope that i might actually be able to own a house one day lol.

I also love coffeeshops/bookstores and thrifting! do yall have that?

Thanks!

Copley Rd drive thru (80's/90's)

Anyone remember what the drive thru was called on Copley Rd, in Copley? I remember riding my bike there in the 80's, they always had a great stock of candy. It is now known as Hamad's Auto Repair, could've sworn there was a barber shop there too. What was it called???'

Hot Beef Plates near Akron / Stow?

I moved from the Midwest a little over 8 years ago and haven't been able to get a Hot Beef Plate in the South. I am headed to the National Park this weekend and was wondering if anyone knew of a place that I could get a Hot Beef Plate from near Stow.

I tried to search online and the only ones that were coming up was TipTopStow & Hartville Kitchen Restaurant (30 minutes away).

Any suggestions would be great, preferably russet over red potatoes.

Do any of you know anything about this little pond in Cuyahoga Falls?

I was perusing maps and noticed this pond, complete with picnic table and beach, near Mud Brook in Cuyahoga Falls. Anyone know if it's in any way public, or what property it might be attached to?

Cleveland Clinic Akron General ERvis awful

This is the 2nd time within 3 yrs I went to the er. The first time, some of the Dr's, staff were rude, unprofessional. Anyways, I have been having extreme pain in my calf for a week and the symptoms may be a blood clot.

I go in at 4am and the place is full. People were sleeping on the nasty floor, really sick folks all cramped in together like sardines. No space. Which is concerning if someone has a contagious disease.

I waited 3 hrs and asked what is the avg wait time. I was told they have no idea. Ridiculous.

I do not have a pcp. Can anyone recommend what to do? I was told to get an mri and special test for blood clots. Any other hospital or what? Thanks
