26M update
Hello,
I've saved up $4,300 from working double shifts and doing doordash, but I'm starting to feel burnt out. Next week, I'm planning to take a break and relax in Calif before coming back to Arizona to keep this mayhem going. Right now, I'm still sleeping in rental cars and showering at the gym, but luckily I found someone who lets me do laundry at their place, which has been a huge help. I let my boss know ahead of time about my break, and he approved it, which | really appreciate.
Hope y’all r doing great and thank you again for the positive feedback

Wow congrats!!
It sounds like you already know but be real careful with burnout. What I've figured out about myself is when I was in a similar position I could work doubles for 3-6 months, then I needed time off to do absolutely nothing, then I could go back but had to pace myself significantly more because once you get burnout it comes back quicker after you've rested. So basiclly work double-ish, rest, work normal, rest, work double, rest, etc. Rest before burnout hits. Just plan for time-off every few months if plan to hustle.
When I continued working doubles I would end up not being able to work basically, or only part-time.
Also I'm using doubles to mean working a ton, some days more than others but always on hustle mode.

I don’t think going to California for a break is a good idea. It’s very expensive out there and you could save that money towards getting a studio or 1 bedroom apartment. It’s up to you though. A vacation sounds great but it’s just not priority in my opinion.

Yes California is outrageously expensive. I’m sure I could find a much nicer and safer apartment in another state for less money

You’re sleeping in rental cars you’re showering at the gym you have $4300 saved. Do you not think there’s more wisely things to spend that money and then going to California?

And that’s why you shouldn’t be posting in this sub… you’re not almost homeless if you’re about to take a vacation

I live in Cali. Don't listen to these people. You can have an amazing time car camping being in nature see the ocean. Shop at grocery outlet if you need stuff. Gas sucks but it's not too bad

Save the money and don't spend it. Take a break and recharge. Think about where you want to be in 6 months. Then 6 years. You now have the opportunity to build for your future. Basically what do you want to do for a living. Start researching. When you interact with people who are doing a job you are interested in, ask them how they got their.
For example my nephew a few years back went to community college and studied and certified to be an x-ray (and other scanning devices) technician. He started out making great money and it's a skill you can travel with. Once your in the industry you network and make business friends. He is now performing multiple jobs for different companies and is in high demand.
While your on this path, shit is gonna break or go wrong. $4300 is your insurance.
Good luck to you sir.

I assume that 4300 is after you set aside any taxes you'll have to pay? Unless Door Dash takes taxes already? Then do you get to write off the rental cars? I would like to think so.

I recommend you buy some mobile detailing or power wash stuff n start a business side gig. You can get started for $300-$700. Watch yt vids on it and see if its something youd want to do. You can make that money work for you and not need to work so hard dashing.

You have suggested something that is illegal to do. This is not considered constructive, actionable, or good advice and has been removed. Offering advice to commit illegal acts will likely put someone at risk of losing more than just a roof over their heads. This includes petty crimes to get food and suggesting sexual work of any sort.

I'm glad to hear you're going on a a vacation. The whole work/life balance isn't exercised enough and instead the majority act like working 90 hours a day is a flex.
