Yeoh is a decent actress if given the right script and material, so maybe….oh wait, it’s the person who adapted Halo? Yep we’re screwed.

making the protagonist female isn't going to do anything to make men hate it, but if it isn't good then they will. if making men hate it is your goal, that's pretty stupid either way

This article is freaking stupid. Since when do mam hate shows with female leads? Didn't we like Buffy and Xena and Fallout and shit?

Well this is reason enough for me to pray for this whole thing to go up in flames.
Blade Runner 2099’s showrunner is Silka Luisa, who most recently produced the Halo TV series for Paramount.

Men dislike bad shows. Halo was bad. Wheel of Time was bad.

You are ignoring a metric ton of whining about WoT for diversifying the cast. Many people decided they hated that show before they watched it.

Will it be whatever that last sci fi adaptation was? Because if so, it’s doomed. So fucking bad. Can’t even remember its name it was SO bad.

This article is trash. Michelle Yeoh was the best part of Section 31, not the reason it was terrible. It was terrible because it wasn’t Star Trek but tried to tell you it was. She would make me more likely to watch Blade Runner, not less.

She's been in some good stuff and is a good actor, but she last helped destroy a piece of Star Trek by that awful "Section 31". She should try not destroying stuff.

Wait, is she playing some random bladerunner? Or are they taking Harrison Fords character and gender swapping it? Because the later would be dumb, while the first one wouldn't be an issue at all.

Pretty sure it's a new character considering it takes place 50 years after the Ford/Gosling film. Though, it would certainly be an interesting move if they were to take 115-year-old Deckard's brain and transplant it into Yeoh's to extend his life. Frankly, I'd love that. One, because it's mental. And two, because it would really irritate some folks and that's always fun.
All that said, I'm much more interested in imagining the sort of interesting things that might arise from a series set in the Bladerunner world. What other aspects of humanity will they explore beyond identity? Will we see those in opposition to replicants? Issues of sentience, slavery, workforce issues, Artificial Intelligence, and so much more would make for some meaty 10 episodes.
But we're not going to talk about those things because Amazon and Jeff Bezos are involved, and they've apparently cast two women in lead roles. So, I imagine the internet will spend most of its time arguing about that rather than the implications of Replicants on the future of humanity.

I thought there was a new series called, “Plan to Make Men Hate A Sci-fi Franchise They Love” and now I’m disappointed
