Khatchadourian name origin

Hello! I am wanting to explore my families Armenian side, and familiarize myself. I wanted to start with the traditional clothing (taraz?), as that is the first thing that draws my attention and also who doesn't like looking good? Anyways, I know Khatchadourian is a Western Armenian name or so I've been told. And Wiki says that there are regions/provinces in Western Armenia, as I am assuming traditional clothing is different depending on what region you come from, or does it matter? I don't want to end up sharing or wearing the wrong thing, spending hundreds of dollars and or hours making it. This may be a stupid question, oh well.

And if I have made a mistake, am confused, or you just want to suggest something for me to look at/learn, please let me know! 🖤🖤🖤

Khatchadour is a male given name that roughly translates to 'given by the cross' it doesn't connect to any particular region

Khatchadourian is not a Western Armenian name. The same exists in Armenia, Eastern Armenians spell is Khachaturyan or Khachatryan. Same meaning, "giving the cross"

(Mainland/modern) Armenians and "Eastern" also use "-ian" spelling. It is not such a concrete rule that Western Armenian spelling is always "-ian" and Eastern spelling is always "-yan".

Hi, I am working on and off with projects regarding traditional Armenian clothing, textiles, and embroidery. I occasionally post in ArmeniansGlobal about it, which I will link. I keep intending to make more posts, but I have a few up currently in there. I plan to sew taraz as well and have so far recreated two fabrics.

The clothing varied by region and time period. Fortunately, unlike European clothing, it's much less fabric wastage (if any). I'll try to post more info later once have a chance. But you can also pm me! :)

If this is something you are passionate about i would love someone to share info between and work on reconstruction. :)

In western we say Daraz, slightly different pronunciation. Here is one post I did. I also plan for future projects to focus on western Armenian
