Reminder: Buying and selling bags is against the rules of this sub
Seen this pop up a fair bit lately. Because people aren't reading the rules I've started banning people temporarily for this.
Please read the rules people. It's really not that hard and don't get upset if you break the rules and get punished. It's on you to read those.
The reason it's not allowed is I don't want this sub (and me) to be responsible for having to moderate that crap. Go look at r/EDCExchange or other subs that allow it. They have systems in place to hold people accountable.

Question ID on model (read below)
TL;DR- had bag for years, looking for model to buy daypacks/removables, lacking confidence in my own research. My best guess is the Flying Scottsman II. Please correct me if I’m wrong🥲
Hey all, obviously this is an MEI built bag, and they unfortunately no longer make bags. I use this pack for just about everything (camping, vacation, etc) and have noticed that I’m missing a few attachments. It was my dad’s, (he gave it to me like 10 years ago when I was in Boy Scouts and it’s served me for 13 years) so I’m sure some things were misplaced way before I was born or whatever. I’m looking for the main bags model to maybe try and find some of the extra attachments, that way I can organize a bit better for my trips. Google photos has been no help, and my best guess is that it’s a Flying Scottsman II. However some outside insight might be useful before I start looking for the wrong day packs, bags, etc. thanks all, any information about this bag and MEI as a whole is appreciated.
(If I answered my own ID and came here lacking confidence, you have full permission to make fun of me in the comments🤣)

Cheaper alternative to Briggs and Riley backpack
I very much like the layout and organization of the BR Work 2.0 Large Cargo Backpack.
It has two chambers on the front, one passport chamber on the top, beefy top hangle, thickly padded straps, large capacity (>=30L), and laptop compartmwnt with a divider.
Sadly at >400$ it is expensive.
What are some cheaper backpacks with same features? looking for <=200$ options.

Travel I am looking for a comfortable EDC + Personal item travel bag
I am looking for a comfortable EDC + Personal item travel bag. Big enough to take some clothes to a trip. Small enough to carry around after unloading it in the hotel.
- Clam style opening for main compartment or close enough
- Reasonably small: 22-24L
- On the softer / lighter side. Not a fan of rigid rectangular shaped ones. I prefer when the top part is a bit slanted when bag isn't full if you know what I mean.
I really liked Rofmia, but those seem to be completely unavailable. Literally gone.
My second choice right now is Dayfarer V2 - I like most things about it aside from maybe being a bit on a rigid side and almost 50cm might not qualify as "personal item" bag for airlines. Although maybe i can squish it under the seat.
Did consider community favourites like AER City Pack Pro 2 - does look a bit bland and bulky to my taste.
Any notable bags I am missing?

In search of perfect school backpack
I’m looking for the perfect backpack for back to school that will fit a 13 inch MacBook along with 13 inch iPad in their own compartments. I also would like it to fit a nalogene wide mouthed water bottle, along with room for pencils and pens, and notebooks and folders. Does anyone have any good suggestions?

Question Simple backpacks that look similar to this one?
Hello. I'm looking for suggestions for simple, quality backpacks with enough room for a high school senior/college student. Preferably no hard shell, as I don't like the look of a very rectangular or wide backpack. Something that has a concave shape? I like the simple look of this one, but I've read it's too small for my liking and the straps are a little too close together in other pictures. I was considering a Herschel backpack, but I'm unsure which size or if it'll be too wide. Thank you. Black is ideal.

good backpacks for keychains
i am a very big keychain and trinket enjoyer but my current backpack has nowhere to hang them (other than 3 zippers) so they all tangle together and make my life worse.
the only thing i really use the backpack for is college, so if you have any recommendations, it would need to be able to fit a laptop in there!!
please help a keychain enthusiast out!!!
(unsure of a price range currently, I’ll come to a more concrete decision after finding a few options)

I'm looking for recomendations for bag that is roughly 30-40 liters, has a smaller compartment where i can put books and a bigger compartment for a jacket or shoes or something bigger, it can also have more compartments.

Help me choose a backpack for school
Hey guyss, im a highschool girlie going into my sophmore year. Recently, i have been looking for a new backpack, that could replace my old one. Im looking for something that would be: - cute but functional - has padded straps and back - is comfy, when carrying a lot of notebooks+other stuff - A dedicated laptop sleeve is a plus
Here are some of my favorites that i have come across (also, im not really willing to pay more than about 100$)

Tropicfeel Scout ProLite vs Osprey Hikelite 18 for daily use in hot weather
I’m trying to decide between the Tropicfeel Scout ProLite and the Osprey Hikelite (18L) for an upcoming trip. I’ll be using it as my daily backpack in a hot climate, mainly to carry a camera, a water bottle, and some small essentials.
Has anyone here tried the Scout? I’m especially curious about how comfortable it feels after a few hours, and whether the back panel breathes well compared to Osprey’s ventilated design. The Hikelite seems super simple and well-ventilated, but the Scout looks lighter and more flexible.
Any first-hand experiences or advice would be really helpful!

Question do you guys think this is good for edc or...?
I am thinking of picking up this bag for EDC and college. But I am kind of short (around 5'1) and I am starting to feel a bit aware that I am going to look stupid carrying this bag. What do you guys think? I'll be spending quite the money on this (enough to be considered an "investment") so I truly don't want to regret in a while, specially for something small.

Backpacks with left sided easy access pocket?
Hi all
Hoping to get some recommendations. On the hunt for a new work/school backpack.
I really like the design of the side access pocket on the Aer City Pack Pro. I like the placement (lower down, left-sided) and key leash. Sad that it's discontinued, but also don't think I could afford it anyway. I know about the Toshi backpack, it's not exactly the same but it's also out of stock.
Just wondering if there are any other backpacks that have same style side pocket?

Seeking: smaller frame waterproof laptop backpack, lots of external pockets
I'm a city-commuting & wildly ADHD teacher & I'm needing a backpack that can handle me. I had a, like 8-pocket backpack & I organized the plentiful pockets with color-coded pulls. It wasn't perfect, but was trick-outable enough for me to have & access what I needed on the day to day. But my apartment flooded, it got trashed, the new version has fewer pockets & school starts in like a week-ish.
If I have to re-learn a bag, I'd like to to be a bag that doesn't go down past my buttcrack & can handle water a little better (yeah, I know -- soaking any bag, especially with zippers...). I also use it as a purse, laptop bag & general transporter of all things carryable. I'd consider splurging on brightline, but that looks like buttcrack territory. So, yes, seeking a unicorn pony here.
- I shouldn't go over 35L.
- Inside needs a laptop sleeve; false bottom ideal because I'm not gentle or mindful.
- a front place with a basic organizer, or room for little things, would be welcome.
The picture is the old beast. It's not perfect -- def too big a frame -- but I need usability. All these options I'm seeing online & offered on some threads look like the aesthetic matters more than the function, and I am not built that way. I have scoured old posts here, and I really hope my people are out there somewhere; it's your time to shine!!
-Many thanks from a batty teacher lady up to her eyeballs before I even get my rosters!
