Image To celebrate the life and career of legendary broadcaster Bob Uecker, the Brewers players and coaches are all wearing the name UECK on their jerseys today.

This celebration is one of the most beautiful things I’ve had the joy to watch. Truly blessed to have him be a part of our lives.

Is crying in baseball allowed if the game hasn't started yet? Asking for a friend

It really shows how much sports are a part of our lives, when just seeing this makes me emotional. I was lucky enough to work for the Brewers in college and met Bob on a handful of occasions. This genuinely feels like losing a family member. I know tons of people who never met him feel the same way.

I absolutely love this and love that they had the roof open for this today.
A perfect celebration for Mr Baseball.
I remember my dad always laughing at his tonight show reruns, then Mr Belvedere (yep, I remember that show). Then learning his knowledge and humor applied to baseball, including the amazing role in Major League.
The man was a legend!

Just because it hasn't been said yet, Bob Costas was the MC and the first pitch was Bob Uecker Jr to Robin Yount.

I honestly wouldn't even be upset if we hit .200 today

My first exposure to Uecker was Mr. Belvedere and a commercial where he arrived to a game, and his seats were in the last, back row and he says, "if this place were turned around, I'd be in the front row!" Me and my brother still make that joke anytime we are at a sporting event. Had no idea he played and was the voice of the Brewers till much later in life.
RIP George Owens

God Damnit All To HELL if the Brewers don't take the World Series this year. Do it for Ueck.

He was the clearest representative of our city for the past who knows how many years, since before I was born. He was the best.

I’m ootl what’s the significance of doing this today? Or did they just pick a random Sunday back when he died?

I wouldn't be surprised if this being Willy Adames's first series back in Milwaukee since he left for SF played a role in the decision. As is the case with most Brewers main stays over the years, the two were quite close.

I love this. What a tribute. Better than a patch or an arm band IMO.

They’ve had a patch all season, too, but this was special for this game that served as the public memorial for his life.

I'm sure most everyone in Wisconsin can relate, especially for those of us who grew up in the 80s and 90s, but Ueck was a part of so many memories. I remember listening to games on warm summer nights in the late 80s and as background "music" for summer cookouts and other gatherings basically my entire life. His calls of the most significant moments in team history will be immortalized forever. I vividly remember listening to him call Rob Deer's Easter Sunday Walkoff in 1987, Robin Yount's 3000th hit, CC Sabathia's near no-hitter in 2008, Nyjer Morgan's walk off in the 2011 NLDS, and unfortunately his final sign off after they lost to the Mets last year. Uecker was a true legend in the booth, but more than that, universally lauded as a great person. A fitting tribute to a life most people could only dream of.

Bob Uecker was one of those rare transcendent baseball people that no matter who your team was, you at the least appreciated and respected, but more likely loved.
RIP to Mr. Baseball.
