good for them. they used to dominate.

Well yeah because they were cheating back then.

Edit: What are you down voting me for? It’s well documented. They got international teams banned in the 70s because they were cheating so hard. They had to leave little league for 6 years in the 90s and 2000s

Taiwan fans would be my guess but yeah they were fielding all star teams back then where the kids also weren’t going to school and trained all day.

No it’s because it’s wrong info. The guy making it like only Taiwan was doing this and every title was illegitimate.

Far from the truth.

u/felis_scipio Philadelphia Phillies 11h ago

Sure there’s lots of little league age/location shenanigans, but Taiwan took it to a state sponsored level and that’s why they were banned for a bit. Many of their titles were illegitimate.

lol another asian team won a tournament 40 years later so another team wasn’t cheating? You sound exactly like a racist sounds

-28

u/Resident-Editor8671 11h ago

Huh? They won in 1996. That’s not 40 years. Lol! You are the one who is racist. Saying anything a team won only cause they cheated. Look at the World Cup. How often does one team dominate for a period like Brazil and not win for awhile. It happens. You are just being naive.

u/Empire0820 Philadelphia Phillies 11h ago

No I’m not the one being actively racist

I’m Taiwanese American and yeah this is pretty much true lol the only solace I take is that at least it’s a pretty small country

Holy shit, you triggered a user so hard that I’m pretty sure he’s lost his mind. Nice one, wish I could give you two upvotes.

How did they cheat?

52

u/Striking_Yard_295 New York Yankees 13h ago

In the 70s they were using older kids, pulling the best kid from different leagues to stack one team, instead of going to school, they had the kids just practice during the day.

In the 90s they said they could not adhere to little leagues districting for the area.

12

u/NewBootGoofin1987 13h ago

Yikes. Ridiculously shady and against the entire spirit of the event

-16

u/Resident-Editor8671 13h ago edited 12h ago

USA did the same thing a 2014 team from Chicago. Lots of American players used PEDs to get an edge in MLB. Cheating isn’t new in sports. Just sad adults controlled that with kids.

16

u/NewBootGoofin1987 13h ago

PEDs on 12 year olds? Like literally HGH or some shit? Those parents need a visit from CPS

The “USA” did not do that. One Little League brought kids from areas it didn’t cover in. Taiwans cheating was State sanctioned and is the only time in LLWS a whole ass State government was involved in the cheating. It’s not like Obama called in to Chicago telling them to make a super Chicago team to try and win.

0

u/Resident-Editor8671 6h ago

They still won after they were suspended. Point is what the US did was still cheating. It’s just excused by you.

pulling the best kid from different leagues to stack one team

isn't that what the chicago jackie robinson team got their title vacated for? why did taiwan get to keep theirs?

10

u/Striking_Yard_295 New York Yankees 11h ago

Technically, what they did was falsify their boundary map so players in the next couple towns over would be eligible. It’s not like they were taking from the entire state of Illinois. And It was one league, one time. Something like this is rare in the US. This and the Almonte team are the only ones that come to mind.

Taiwan was nationwide and rampant. They left little league for 6 years over this when they started cracking down on it.

They were the better team. But go ahead with that narrative if it makes you sleep better at night.

They were only penalized once and dominating even after that incident in the 80s winning 3 and 90s, winning 2 titles.

The other team from the Philippines disqualified but I think you are confusing them with Taiwan since both Asian countries.

I think the other countries like Japan just got better who won 8 times from 1999 to now why Taiwan hasn’t won for a bit.

“When Asian countries win anything, it’s cheating“ fragile Yankees fan.

12

u/Recurs1ve San Diego Padres 10h ago

How does winning after you get penalized for cheating proof that you weren't cheating in the first place? Your argument makes no sense, and it's not racism bruv.

For example, I love Fernando but he's never getting into the hall. He can hit 800 home runs and it wouldn't matter.

0

u/Resident-Editor8671 9h ago edited 9h ago

Because you’d figure they’d be watched more carefully. They weren’t caught again. Unlike A Rod who was caught twice because he was watched more.

I’m assuming Tatis took full advantage of PEDs because he has yet to ever come close to hitting the way he did before he was caught.

Taiwan might just be the good even without the help of older players and practice.

You all just so damn fragile anytime an Asian team does well in anything in sports.

So the Yankees should give up the titles Clemens, Jason Grimsley and A Roid were a part of with your logic.

3

u/Recurs1ve San Diego Padres 9h ago

No, but those three will never be in the hall either. They cheated, got caught, and paid the penalty. Just because the Astros won the world series two years ago doesn't make the ones prior to that legitimate, right? Same applies to Taiwan.

1

u/Resident-Editor8671 6h ago edited 6h ago

Right so Taiwan was caught in the 70s and still won several titles after they were caught. It’s like saying the Astros title in 2022 isn’t legit because they cheated in 2017 and that’s what people here are saying none of those titles count even after they were caught.

Taiwan won plenty more after.

Have you even noticed that the entire thread is celebrating their 2025 win?

1

Can’t stand being called out for it. I see

-5

u/Resident-Editor8671 13h ago edited 13h ago

There are several teams from other countries including the USA that there were incidents of using ineligible players. And those were only the ones caught.

They dominated because they were good.

Unfortunately when it comes to competition, even with kids, adults will control the narrative, winning at any cost.

Same people saying Taiwan won only cause they cheated say Ohtani would fail in the MLB. Lots of those.

You are being downvoted cause your Yankees suck! Go Sox!

-2

u/Resident-Editor8671 12h ago

Other teams got better. It’s the evolution of sports. Japan won for several years. Just happens.

The US boys have had a good run for a while, and Taiwan was due.

Crazy to me as Taiwan used to dominate this thing for a long while.

Regardless the nationality I always love to see the happy outburst to winning it.

Nobody in Vegas really liked this Vegas team cause the coach has had this team together for a few years as both a club team and little league team. There’s a few coaches that do the exact same thing and if one kid is doing bad they just kick him off the team and get another kid that’s better

9

u/IveGotaGoldChain Los Angeles Dodgers 9h ago

But all those kids have to live in that district right? At least where I'm from the districts are small enough that it would still be very hard to put this together.

It sounds like the coach at the local little league just put together a select team from the league a few years ago and developed them to be this good?

2

u/lusirfer702 7h ago

They’re supposed to be but they can borrow someone’s address. When my son was in little league there was a team ran by the league president and he had the same kids since they were little all playing together. The kids were all in the same club team as well and were practically unbeatable in little league.even though you’re only allowed to freeze 2 players each season somehow he had the same kids while everyone olds only had 2 or 3 good kids on the team.

Them and paseo verde always represent Las Vegas for a reason. It is what it is.

Sounds like how screwed over high school tourneys are now a days. Our state championship is plagued with private schools that are just unfairly above the rest, and poach anyone from public schools the moment they show any promise. But even worse, both private and public schools break the “no coaching kids during off season” when certain coaches have AAU teams that are 95% their high school team. Go figure the top private school and two known public schools that game the system usually bounce back and forth for the championship. Thankfully this year a real public team won and made massive upsets to get the dub

awesome, nothing more reddit than "supporting taiwan" and shouting "free taiwan" because they're an enemy of evil china, then turning around and mocking their accents every single time taiwan is mentioned to the point where taiwanese kids can't even play a fucking baseball game without having racists make fun of them.

whoa guys, i'm starting to think this website doesn't actually give a fuck about taiwanese people at all...

I’m Taiwanese I don’t see how that applies to me; and I love the pug nation Taiwan numba 1 video I think it’s hilarious and personally love it

People here seem to get so offended when a non white country wins anything. The excuse is, it’s just for kids when they lose. So great when they win. LOL!

7

u/HunchoStax 11h ago

You don’t need to be offended on our behalf. It’s not that serious.
