Changing up my Oasis

What's up battlestations. Got a new setup for yah.

I just moved across the country and had to reconfigure my old "L shaped Oasis" found here https://www.reddit.com/r/battlestations/s/VUNI6B4sdH

I decided to mix things up a bit too:

1) I've dropped the L shaped. Unfortunately the room just doesn't allow for it.

2) I've decided to swap chairs and give my wife the Herman Miller Embody . Instead, I'm replacing it with Autonomous' new Ergochair Ultra 2. I own the autonomous Smart desk and was real happy with it so I figured I'd see how their chairs are. I'm pretty pumped on it. Easy install, good packaging, and great ergonomics for the price. I spent some time in the bay area chair liquidator stores and buying a used chair for $600 when I could get something like this brand new just didn't make sense. I'm probably gonna add the headrest asap. Head to head I thought I would miss the embody but it hasn't even crossed my mind yet.

3) I added some desk lighting from govee. Cheap, and puts out a ton of light.

4) need to buy another benq monitor light because it got lost in the move. Sucks.

5) artwork has yet to be mounted. Final setup to be continued!

My relaxing and cozy setup

Post image

This is my favourite place in the apartment. This is where i will go in the afternoon when im done with school, homework and gym. Usually i am going to play some games with my friends or watch a video from one of my favourite creators. I specifically chose the color orange for the theme of the setup because i find it relaxing, it doesnt disturb me and its not annoying for my eyes. This is proof that with little money, some spare parts and some love, you can make a simple yet great little setup.

IKEA Ikea Barkaboda Standing Desk Setup

Post image
32 Upvotes

I have previously used a Ikea Skogsa in conjunction with my Maidesite standing desk legs, but after 6 months I experienced the dreaded sag. After taking the worktop off the legs I noticed at least a cm of sag in the middle. After looking through this subreddit I decided to give it another go but this time make sure it to reinforce it properly. I previously thought that I wouldn't experience sag as I used the 73" variant but this wasn't the case.

  1. Many people in this subreddit suggested using angle iron for support however I opted to use Galvanised 41mm x 21mm x 2.5mm Slotted Channel Struts - this came in handy later with cable management.
  2. As the holes in this strut were bigger than expected I had to use M8 washers to overcome this.
  3. I used 30mm length PZ woodscrews to mount the struts.
  4. Although it wasn't necessary, I mounted a 600mm x 145mm piece of redwood to the rear of the desk, to help disperse the weight of both my monitors arms.
  5. Finally, I mounted 2 cable trays to the rear of the desk, and the worktop to the standing legs.

If anyone else is considering this setup I would recommend swapping out the standing legs screws for proper wood screws, and using washers on the center bar to ensure it is snug, for added stability. I only noticed after taking apart my first attempt how inadequate the stock screws are for this use case.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to comment below. I will be updating this subreddit in years to come to provide updates on the sag.

Dreams don’t fit in square footage, my soul is ready but my cable management is not.

Yard sale Triple monitor mount

Post image

Picked up this triple monitor mount at a yard sale for $5. Can’t believe it actually fits my 34” ultrawide and both 24” monitors almost perfectly. Not sure if I love it yet—maybe just need some time to get used to the setup lol.

Battlestations Advice Looking to do something new and better with the layout

Post image
198 Upvotes

I've had a version of this layout for a while now, my desk and everything on it has honestly been perfected in its current style, but the things I have are expanding (got a Cricut on the way, and am about to hit buy on a FDM 3d printer and later an SLA one) I need more of a workbench than my (not pictured in the main image) closet setup and want to have something truly great. the one issue I've run into ideating is the layout of the room... the window, closet, and door all really mess with any idea I've had and lead to either awkward unused areas, or blocking the closet or door. One other issue with upgrading my closet workbench is that the closet is our attic entrance, so I can't do anything really permanent in there.

I'm willing to spend ~$1000 if I can get the setup to be truly amazing and exactly what I want, but otherwise would want something that could mostly work with what I currently have

If there is another subreddit I should repost this to for more advice let me know!

Battlestations Advice Looking for advice

Post image

I already posted this before, but now i wanna show it at a better angle and definitely ask for advice on what i could change or add or even replace, the only thing i'm planning on at the moment is getting rid of the speakers and mounting a soundbar hidden behind the monitors on the wall, besides that i'd really appreciate any ideas on what to add/change
