Long-time lurker, first time poster here. Not new to packing my lunch, but new to bento. This super easy, super tasty tuna mayo rice bowl recipe is from NYT Cooking.

Chicken/cheese stuffed croissants, spicy chicken and broccoli over brown rice with quinoa, dumplings with lao gan ma, chicken/bean/lentil madras, kimchi in the right box and kimchi bun in the left box.

Am I the only one who feels loved when they open their bento that they packed themselves? Like a ritual of self-love 😆

• Ginger pork (shougayaki)
• Broccoli, octopus, and potatoes in pesto
• Beans and paprika tomato stew
• Marinated fried eggplant
• Whitebait over a bed of mixed grain rice

Since I've moved to a sedentary job a year ago, I've gained 6 kilos. I decided to get a pair of Mepal Midis to help me with portion control. Really liking the way it's built, the latch mechanism feels quite a bit more robust yet easy to open than what I am used to with lunch boxes. Gripper for scale.

Cat rice balls.
Steamed edamame and glazed salmon.
Sugar snap peas, Japanese sweet potato, and braised lotus root.
Special crab salad.

I hope he likes it. I also hope his school doesn’t get upset with it (they can be picky). I’ve never made a bento for my son before 😅

Everything you see here except for the wheat bun was homemade! After purchasing a tamagoyaki pan, it became WAY easier to make it (last time it turned out very depressing😭)

Can someone tell me where to find a cute bento box? I bought one and it came with the seal crumbling. I want one like it that preferably won't break like it

Last week of daycare for my toddler :’) Monday: hummus and pita, cucumbers and tomatoes, sweet potatoes, grapes and apples. Tuesday: croissant with cheese, sesame noodles, edamame, mangoes and blueberries. Wednesday: sandwich rollups (chicken salad, sunflower butter and jelly), grapes and frozen berries, steamed veggies. Thursday (last day of school): pasta with Parmesan and black pepper, tomatoes, shredded chicken, apple French fries with sunflower butter, and a smoothie.

Teriyaki salmon on lettuce and scallion with pickled turnip/carrot. Sushi rice with furikake, baby corn (extra teriyaki sauce in dish). Radish roses (still working on learning those); mango & yogurt; fresh cherries; pecans and peanut butter cookie cups.

Thank God I’m feeling so much better now! I finally had the energy to make this bento for my first grader

My bento box requirements:

• Stainless steel container + silicone for leakproofing
• Zero plastic (not even a plastic latch)
• Non-toxic (no other materials, high-quality base materials)
• Hinged lid
• Leakproof

The only one I found that meets the requirements is The Good Kiind, and it's pretty pricey. Recommendations pleaseeeee.
