Thank y'all!

Hey y'all. I want to officially welcome everyone in this subreddit.

  • I created it because I could not find many/any black romance focused reddits. I want to let y'all know that I designed a logo for us, chose some new coloring to make it more inviting all while representing 'love'.
    • Let me know if you have a better design or if other colors might fit best.
  • I am currently working on adding a Goodreads or StoryGraph mod.
  • I have added some collections to the subreddit.
  • Currently want to reach out to some authors to see if they are interested in advertising or sharing ideas for upcoming releases, book topics and many more.
  • I am also looking for active moderators, people who know how to work around Reddit interface. Please feel free to comment your interest and reach out to me.
  • THERE IS MORE TO COME. Please be patient while I navigate all of this.

Thank you!!!

Much love Tracy E. Darling ˚ʚ♡ ɞ˚

BOOK REQUEST 📚 Horror romance with Black FMC

Does anyone have any recommendations for horror romance books with a Black FMC? Like for real, for real horror where the romance is still essential to the story. Not just horror elements (for example, there are a lot of vampire books that aren't horror). It doesn't have to be supernatural.

I prefer it to be spicy with a nonwhite, preferably Black LI. And preferably with the MCs in their 30s+, or late 20s (def not early 20s or younger).

I'm cool with bwwm books too, it's just that those seem a lot easier to find. So if you have any suggestions, i'm open to them (for later).

If you have a good rec without spice or maybe a good thriller you can still suggest it and i can save it for later :)

DISCUSSION 🎙️ 'Hear My Heart' by Tay Mo'nae

Finished 'Hear My Heart' by Tay Mo'nae a few weeks ago. It has a few tropes that I thought I wouldn't enjoy but I was surprised. This is like my third Tay Mo'nae book and her writing definitely makes me question what's "right and wrong". Have you read this one, or is it on your tbr?

Reading this book now. Anyone else reading or have read this one? So far, it’s pretty good. There are trigger warnings so please take care when reading these sensitive topics.

I’m enjoying Skylar and Gray’s evolving relationship. The author uses “alpha” and other words/phrases I’m not a fan of but the writing is good enough for me to keep pushing forward. The author uses the trope of the mmc who doesn’t date/consider love until meeting the fmc. Oh, and the very popular, very rich mmc. The fmc is also very wealthy though, so it balances out.

I’m about halfway through. Recently I’ve read a few duds, so, in comparison, this is very enjoyable.

DISCUSSION 🎙️ Black/Afam Romance vs. Urban Romance

Post image
63 Upvotes

For quite some time, I’ve labeled two of my books as Black/Afam Romance, because they feature Black FMCs and they’re written by a Black woman. Now I’m wondering whether Black/Afam Romance is just another way to say Urban Romance (e.g., Quan Millz, Zane).

So which is it? Is Black Romance another term for Urban Romance, or is it a descriptor for the characters/author?

GUSH/RAVE🥰 The Space Between Us – a BWWM romance about healing, safety, and second chances is now on Wattpad 📖

The Space Between Us is a slow-burn BWWM romance about a woman rebuilding her life after emotional abuse… and the quiet man who shows her what real safety feels like.

It’s tender, protective, and full of heart — with just enough tension to keep your chest tight 👀

If you love stories with healing arcs, emotional intimacy, and characters that feel real… this one’s for you. 💛

BOOK REQUEST 📚 Spicy, fluffy bwbm book recs

Does anyone have any recommendations for a fluffy bwbm book? Preferably: - high heat - mid to fast burn - the FMC and MMC in their thirties/forties (no age gap). I'm fine with late 20s, but not younger. - preferably the MMC is sweet and protective - no cheating - no love triangle - And an HEA ❤️

While I love dark romance, i prefer that this one not be (though if you have some dark romance recs that fit those criteria, please share with that caveat and i'll check those out when the mood strikes!).

Edit: Wow! So many recs! Thank you all so much!! 🥰

[TOMT ] “Tip of My Tongue: Black Fiction Series w/ Sebastian, Gray Eyes, Family Drama”

Hi everyone! I’ve been trying to track down a book (possibly part of a series) that I read in the early 2000s — I believe it was published sometime between 1995–2007 by a Black author, possibly from a smaller or independent press.

Here’s what I remember:

  • It focused on a Black family with multiple siblings — I think there were 5 siblings total.
  • The book involved family secrets, identity drama, and a kind of confessional or therapy moment where things were revealed.
  • One of the main characters (maybe the love interest or one of the siblings) might’ve been named Sebastian.
  • I also remember a character (or the family line) having hazel or gray eyes, which was a standout detail.
  • It was adult fiction, more of a family saga/drama than a romance, though relationships were involved.
  • The cover had real photo-style faces — possibly multiple people’s faces featured on it.
  • Someone gave me the book and I’ve never forgotten how dramatic and emotional it was.

It is NOT Addicted by Zane or The Coldest Winter Ever — this was a bit more grounded and centered around family identity and secrets.

Does this ring any bells for anyone? I feel like I’d recognize the cover instantly if I saw it. I’ve been searching everywhere — help!

Marriage in Distress me please! 😫

Romance besties! 😊

I have accidentally fallen into the 'marriage in distress' rabbit hole. Help!

I just finished reading This is Law by Diamond D Johnson (which is🔥 btw ) and before that I was reading When Forty Blooms by Jacinta Howard.

I want more!

Second chance love is one of my fav tropes anyway so marriage in distress right up my alley..😏

So far I've read:- (that I can remember)

Before I Let GoKennedy Ryan

Maybe Next TimeChristina C. Jones

Operation MidnightSharon C. Cooper

So if anyone has anymore suggestions please throw them my way.

Thanks! 💗

Book, online resource, and tips for White Woman in love w a Black Man

Greetings! I am a white Portuguese/American woman in a love relationship w a Black American man. I want to learn about challenges and struggles of a black man/family growing up and living in America (he’s lived in Brooklyn since he was 17 yrs old and was born and raised to 17 yrs old in Little Rock, Arkansas). Would you kindly recommend a must read selection of books and point to online resources, and maybe even highlight the main challenges I will for sure encounter, and hopefully surpass? Thank you in advance!!
