Bone I.D. - N. America Large jawbone found in Northern VT woods

Post image

We found a large jawbone piece over 12” long in the woods of northern Vermont, near the Canadian border. Any idea what it is?

Upsidedown skull. Looks just like a moose skull I have.

Possibly a moose or elk if they’re in that area. If you have a picture of the top side and it has a big dent in the forehead it’s a moose.

Not an elk, if it were an elk it would have, or at least have a spot for ivories.

I had no idea a moose skull would look so much like the Jersey cow skull which is currently upside down in my crocus bed.

But based on location and your statement of local moose, and what look like very short nasal bones from what I can make out in that angle, I'd definitely agree it's a moose skull.
