'Worthy by Justin Vernon'

Hey everyone, I've never posted on reddit before, but I cannot find this song and it's making me so sad. I have also posted this in /justinvernon too.

I’ve been on the hunt for an old Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) song that used to be on YouTube for years but seems to have vanished. This song meant so much to me and I cannot find it on youtube anymore, or any trace of it. I think it was unreleased and could have been from his solo work as 'Justin vernon', JD Vernon, or potentially even DeYarmond Edison or Volcano Choir.

I loved the song so much at the time that I tried to write down all of the lyrics (They are probably not 100% correct, I was like 19/20 when I wrote these down and had to do it by stop pausing)

If anyone can help me with this I would be so grateful. I treasured this song and am absolutely kicking myself for not ripping the audio of youtube when I could have.

I searched for it a little bit, and found out that a major YouTube channel called @JDYEVFan with a ton of unreleased Justin Vernon songs is down. They had some amazing gems there.

Anyway, I used the Wayback Machine to see what this channel looked like a while ago (which unfortunately doesn't allow playing the videos themselves), and they had the following videos:

I know this sounds fully insane, but I did all that because your post made me realize I really missed "Out Here" (one of those lost songs), so I searched for a bit and found a Reddit post where a godsent user (u/VirgilVanDoink) had it downloaded somehow.

Not a very interesting story, but maybe this saga can help you somehow lol

This is really kind!! I'm wondering if it could be 'Worthy' - The more i'm learning from this hunt, the more I wonder if it's a Deyarmond Edison demo / or just after working with them.

Fuck I love the rawness in these old original Justin tracks. Different art from Bon Iver and both are so special but they’re two unique directions. Wish we could keep getting Justin songs! And all these old YouTube ones recorded

I downloaded it and it says it's from "4 Live Tracks" by DeYarmond Edison... what's that? Do you have the other 3??

Edit: It could just be metadata that someone entered for iTunes, but either way, there are apparently 3 more.

Yeah, i found that link on another Reddit post and without access to their drive we will never know. I have a few unreleased Deyarmond albums/eps downloaded but this song doesnt’ appear on any of those. Judging by this thread this song was never released so the person as you said may have taken liberties on the songs information when changing the metadata. It could also of course be genuine metadata from the original track but i think thats unlikely given how it “came out” during a time where apple and iTunes was the most used program for adding tags. Itunes was also notoriously bad at doing this haha. I wont personally look into it as there is not enough to go on but if you do find out please let me know! :)

Ill keep loooking! Ill be honest ive just been listening to all obscure stuff and matching any of the lyrics - especially the last line as thats a consistent way to look. Im currently listening to the DeYarmond compilation album of sorts "epoch" because it came out in 2023 and has a bunch of their unreleased stuff on there, plus logically its likely the youtube vid was taken down due to copyright which if that was the case, means it does exist in some capacity. Are you able to listen to any of the songs mentioned here, also can you listen to epoch and see if you can come across it. Honestly the most likely person to find this song now I think is you, due to you being able to instantly recognise the song. Good luck, I hope other people can point is in the right direction. Pretty sure its in the 2006-2008 justin and deyarmond era :)
