I'm curious to see what they do with a younger cast! It might fit well with the campy horror theme of the earlier Buffy seasons.

I have seen Faly Rakotohavana in Unprisoned. I found him to have a very comfortable screen presence and it felt like he was able to project quite a lot of emotional depth in an anxious character, so him especially makes me feel a touch more excited. Haven’t seen much of the others.

No confirmation yet. DanielRPK leaked the name Nova, while according to Ryan Kiera Armstrongs dad, Ryan auditioned for the role of Nina.

Heh, I dunno, trying to guess what's going on based on little scraps and rumors and whited out names seems like something that was exciting when we were in our 20s. I'm all for being patient these days. They will certainly reveal more info soon.

Someone did some tech magic to the image of the script that SMG posted, and the name nova wasn't on the character list but the name poppy was.

Is there still one more person to cast. I thought there was another male main character from the leaked outlines with the name Cole who was the alpha of the group, confident, and a natural leader. Unless they've changed and that character was dropped or shifted to recurring cause that social media-obsessed student was leaked as supporting not lead.

further confirms they’re rebuilding that location despite the end of the series

there are some rumored plot details out there but i understand not everyone wants to be spoiled; i think sunnydale being back is going to be a plot point for buffy’s involvement in the series and that it’s currently an effort by the state to rebuild the town

There could've been lots of rewrites to the scripts between the leak and now though. Also, some names could've been fake on the sides for the audition to curb leaking as well.

I'm sorry but this makes me nervous. I wished for this revival so much. I wanted it more than anything. But this is giving Hocus Pocus 2 (and I know What You Did Last Summer 2025, and most not good legacy sequels). A bunch of new basic younger actors shoved down our throats when we just want the originals. I pray its Cobra Kai level, or Picard season 3 level, or even Beetlejuice Beetlejuice level (where Winona was the true focus and Jenna Ortega was minor)

I mean, it's not just Disney. Pop culture has resorted almost entirely to strip-mining previous decades for a while now.
All of the top ten box-office films in 2024 were remakes, sequels, or adaptations. Ten out of ten! It's crazy.

Producers use reboots as a way to generate more money from something that was popular and profitable, but it usually goes wrong. As a Buffy fan, I think a spin-off about Giles "The Ripper" would have worked better. It could have a new cast and feature actor Anthony Stewart Head as the narrator. Previous actors could make sporadic appearances as narrators, similar to what was done with "Young Sheldon."

They literally could've told any other kind of story but instead we're getting a straight up carbon copy of the original, right down to the setting and a white waif as the lead smh. I'm embarrassed for everyone involved

I was afraid of that ... now I am almost very sad. If Buffy will be only in the name of the TV show and teaching the new generation with 3 minutes per episode... well, this will never get the air time, I think. Since they still were not approved by the studio, right now they are going to shoot the pilot episode

Ya, it’s the laziest way possible to do a legacy sequel/revival series. Just the same as the old show but with new younger characters filling the roles of the original characters. Same high school setting, same town.

It was always a possibility, and it was clear there was going to be a new slayer as the lead, but when did SMG indicate that the show was specifically going to be about a new Buffy, Xander and Willow, with a single parent, in the same town and high school? Basically a redo of the original series.

She didn’t say those exact same words of course but she said it would be a new story about a new slayer and that they would highlight nex characters before old ones. She is the only old cast member to be featured after all ! (For now)
What did you expect about a new 15 year okd slayer ? That she would be homeschooled without friends with only buffy, willow and xander ?🤔

We don't. People are making shit up to get upset over. We don't even have the premise of the show yet and we haven't seen the actors in action.
Like, she said she doesn't care about these randos and she cares about the original cast and characters, like, no shit. The show isn't out yet, and buffy started out exactly the same. You don't care about the characters until you're able to experience them.

Sarah was born in 1977 and the pilot episode was filmed in 1997. She was 17 in 1994.

18 when shot unaired pilot in march 1996. 19 when shooting S1 August 1996 to January 1997. Turned 20 when Episode 7 Angel aired. 20 when starting S2 in July 1997.

They should've pulled a Cobra Kai and centered a reboot on Faith mentoring at-risk slayers (I know she's retired but $$$ talks) or they could've focused on a trio of teenage slayers who attend the same high school in a different setting. Anything other than this.

Keira is the only standout so far despite being a bit too young.
None of these stand out visually. Why do so many actors look less distinctive now? Compare that 70s show to that 90s for example. I think the way an actor looks is important to memorability- they’re all beautiful but I wouldn’t be able to pick them out of a lineup.

It’s 100% clear it’s a reboot AND continuation to Buffy the Vampire Slayer. SMG is returning in a recurring capacity while the story will mainly focus on an entirely new slayer.
