Patient I rang the bell

I rang the bell today!! Final cancer treatment finished. From Stage 4 to NED in 2 years is shocking. We're incredibly happy, but it's all so surreal still. You guys got this.

This is encouraging. Did you do anything other than conventional chemo/immunotherapy?

No, we did 2 very aggressive chemotherapies and one immunotherapy. I continued on the immunotherapy after scans first showed NED, which is when we stopped the chemo. I was taking home a pump for 5 days when doing the chemo. It was awful.

What chemotherapies did you do? My dad is currently fighting SCC but it is in his armpit and lymph nodes, now in his parathyroid. His armpit tumor is 16cm x 14 cm.

I had to look it up in my chart, but these were the medicines...

carboplatin, 5 FU, and pembrolizumab

I really don't know much about them, though. I put my full trust in the staff at our hospital. My doctor is the head of their cancer research department, so we listened to what he suggested.
