Patient Septic shock
Hey, I posted a couple days ago about starting chemo for AML (it’s been about two weeks). Things got really bad, and I wanted to update because I don’t really know anyone else who’s been through this. I ended up in septic shock, and the doctors said it’s life threatening.
It started with a small fever and feeling really weak. At first, I thought it was just chemo side effects, but it got worse really fast. My whole body started feeling off, and my feet even went purple. That part really freaked me out.
I’ve been in the hospital since, on IV antibiotics, fluids, and other treatments to try to stabilize me. I’m still not feeling much better yet everything is exhausting, and it’s scary how quickly something like this can get dangerous.
Chemo was already really hard, and now dealing with septic shock on top of it makes everything feel even more overwhelming. I just wanted to share this

I ended up in the hospital with a blood infection and lung infection after my second round of chemo for ALL. The craziest part is I had zero symptoms before the 104 degree temp set in and I ended up in the hospital for about a week. I thought I was going to die. I pulled through. I also had a platelet count of 4 and no warning of that either. Chemo will put you in some tight spots. Hope you feel better.

Oh my friend I feel your pain after my wife finished chemo she had surgery to remove the tumor from her bile duct and part of her liver. After 2 weeks in hospital my wife was rushed back to hospital . While in er we almost lost her she was in full blown septic shot with multiple organ failure. Now she is in long term care facility still recovering. She has improved still has long way to go. Just don’t give up and keep fighting. Send prayers positive energy

Ugh. I am sure you feel awful. Get as much rest as you can while you’re there. You are heard and I am sending healing wishes your way.

Ugh. It just makes it all the worse! I’m grateful your hospital stay seems to have beaten the infection. Thank you for posting and keeping us apprised.

I got very, very sick after I had my daughter years and years ago. Within 2 days of bringing her home, I was back at the hospital with a 105 degree fever, septic and hallucinating. It was awful and even cancer hasn't made me feel that bad yet. It takes time to heal so make sure you get all the rest and look out for yourself.

Bro i completely understand, i had A.L.L when i was 19, im 26 now…ive been through it all and the treatment is rough man. Its such a draining thing to go through and i hope you’re doing okay and keeping your spirits up
If you ever need someone to reach out to that can relate to what you’re dealing with, you can always message me if you have any questions or anything bro. I have had septic shock a few times, i had a blood clot in my brain, unfortunately i got most of the “rare side effects” from the chemo. Its good to have a friend thats been through it and got out the other side, gives hope❤️

A close friend of mine who went into septic shock is still in the hospital 10 weeks later. He is definitely on the mend and will soon be in rehab. He does not have cancer, and the sepsis snuck up on him when he was fighting off pneumonia. He had gone into organ failure. Septic shock is bad stuff, although it sounds like you have good doctors. You will beat this, but it is not fun. Best wishes.

I wish you the best and peace. When I saw my blood tests showing my immune system crashing during my chemotherapy and radiation, infection was my worst nightmare.
