Question | Advice-Needed Getting an ID card if you are with Capitec?

Awe to my fellow Capitec people.

I want to know if any of you know the easiest and fastest way (being the least amount of waiting) to get an ID card in Capetown ? ( still have the book)

Yes there is the online booking system, which does not allow Capitec for some reason?
(it keeps refusing the booking because i haven't payed but also refuses to let me pay)

So i don't know if anyone knows maybe a quite home affairs or some special cheat code to getting it done easy

I made the online booking and paid at the branch. Be sure to make your booking after midnight or go to areas outside of CPT like Grabouw.

this is the way, IF you can book an appointment online.

I could not book an appointment because a missed appointment from 5 years is still outstanding. My solution was to go to the branch in person and asked where to queue outside when I arrived. The ID queue took 30 minutes for me to to get into the building and get a queue reference number and have the correct oplace to sit pointed out. Waiting to be seen to initiate the application was another 20 minutes. They did ask if I had an appointment, but it did not matter that I did not. The queue to have photos taken after my old ID was scanned was 10 minutes tops, and paying at the cash office took another 5 minutes.

Was SMS'd the day my card arrived (10 days later), and could collect next morning. That was another 30 minutes from entering the building to leaving with the ID, first thing in the morning.

I did my application online a few weeks ago but there were no suitable bank slots for me to do my biometrics so I took a gamble by going to the home affairs Cape Town office and honestly it was actually pretty good.

I got there at around 11:30 and the queue only had 4 other people. Maybe I just got lucky but it was super trippy, I thought systems were offline or something because of how short the line was. I was done within an hour.

I also have good experiences with that home affairs and their timing. Went around 11am too(on a weekday)

Someone that banks elsewhere can make an appointment for you at their bank.

So a fellow Capitec person here,

Capitec will be rolling smart id’s soon, you would be able to actually go directly to a branch and get your smart ID.
