Hair salon for wedding?
My son is getting married in Carleton Place October 9th. I’m from out of town and need a good hair salon for myself. Just a style, no cut or colour.
We are staying at the Comfort Inn so something sort of close would be good.

Carleton Place council roundup: growth plan, water rates, veterans’ crosswalk

A commemorative veterans’ crosswalk featuring two soldiers and the Carleton Place stag shield was approved this week, with the Royal Canadian Legion covering installation and maintenance costs.
Debate also unfolded over the Franktown Road Secondary Plan, including a proposed 20-metre collector road through Phase Two of the Coleman Subdivision, which some developers opposed.
Carleton Place Council additionally reviewed a 10-year water and wastewater rate study recommending a 1.95 per cent annual increase to keep costs aligned with growth and provincial requirements.

Looking for a single room
Hi everyone,
I’m a recent graduate and currently working in Almonte. I’m looking for a single room (furnished with a bed) in Almonte or the surrounding area.
A little about me: • Female, living alone • Clean and tidy • No pets, no smoking • No parties, no bringing strangers home
If you know of any available places or someone looking for a reliable roommate, I’d really appreciate your help.
Thank you!

Carleton Place construction question
Ok, so question for those in Carleton Place residents. Why is there such an insistence by builders to cut down through the bedrock to build basements when the top soil is like 3 to 4 feet max? I understand wanting more space inside but why not just add a 3rd story on top? This seems to be asking for a lot of trouble with heavy rain falls and how often power goes out (so no sub pumps) at the same time? Am I missing something with why this is happening because it looks like a request to the gods for a flooded basement.
Anyway, any insight people can provide would be helpful.

The Independent is absolute crap
I just bought a cantaloup for $3, but it rung up as $4. I got the run-around on how to resolve the issue, but eventually I took a photo of the sign and went to customer service. About 15 minutes after first checking out, I was served at customer service. They needed to call the manager and offered me a buck off (as in, the price as marked). Finally, after some arguing, they gave it free. If their policy is merely to correct mistakes, what's the incentive to fix prices?
To add insult to injury, my cart got caught on gravel in the parking lot and I hit my shin on the cart. Now I have a big goose egg on my shin.
Oh yeah, and the prices are SO high.
