Mosquito distribution among each European country

Does anyone know the most prevalent Mosquito species in each European country or where I could find that info?

In Croatia and Italy I get heavy allergic reaction to mosquitoes, probably I have Skeeter syndrome. But in my home country (Portugal) I do not get such big reactions. I get a small bump but thats it. Same in Malta, either they have very little mosquitoes or I just didn't get a huge reaction.

So this makes me curious about mosquitoes species distribution among Europe because clearly I am very allergic to some species.

In Croatia and Italy, the Asian tiger mosquito tends to bite harder and cause stronger reactions for some people. Portugal and Malta probably have fewer of those or different types, so your bites don’t hit as hard there.

Yeah I saw photos of three invader species, one of them was those. The mosquitoes I killed do seem more similar to those. They are not like the ones back home which seem to be from Culex gender.

I wish I knew which polypetides they have that cause such strong reaction in me. I looked around and didn't see many people as bitten as I was, so either they were not bitten or they don't react like me. I use Citronella braceletes but it doesn't work with these mosquitoes. Next time I am bringing DEET spray.

Yeah they’re a nasty bunch. They are generally known to bite more aggressively.

If you prefer something natural, lemon eucalyptus oil can help repel mosquitoes to some extent. Wearing long sleeves or using mosquito nets in the evening can also cut down on bites.
