A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface .
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.
On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.
The two-day blackout isn't the goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action.

Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!

After months of no response from the former moderators here, I asked Reddit to look into the situation. Let's try to make /r/cereal at least as good as it used to be.
Please post cereal-related content.

Why can't I find regular original special k anymore? For like the last month all I see is the new weird protein one and I have zero interest in that! ðŸ˜ðŸ’”

It’s not bad but not excellent

Decent enough - sort of a weak crunchberry flavor. A little subdued but very pleasant. I used Vanilla Sweetened Rice Milk and it’s a good combination. Worth a try if you find it

Does anyone else remember Mini Wheats Touch of Fruit? Did it only come in mixed berry? That's the only one I remember ever seeing or eating.

Well I unlocked a memory today, and remembered I use to love a certain type of cereal when i was younger that use to have small white chocolate eggs in it. I don't know much else about it other than I use to have it around 2002 - 2006 i think. Not very specific i know but any help figuring this out is appreciated.

I’ve only recently discovered the frosted variety of the Rice Krispies line of cereals. This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. I’m a Chex maniac and I’m pretty loyal to the brand (part of the family), but Rice Krispies has captured my attention with this new (I assume it’s new) variant. This particular one is almost reminiscent of the seminal cereal Rice Krispy Treats Cereal (we all signed the petition to bring it back). I find myself getting downright giddy thinking about eating a bowl of this frosted delicacy as a wind down for the day. This is the kind of innovation that gets me excited about cereal, not since Chex updated the rice line have I been this pleased. I had to share my enthusiasm with you cereal freaks. God speed.

I can’t help but have a bowl of cereal before bed every night. Trying to watch my sugar so I’d love to replace my usual bad habits with slightly healthier ones. Been liking Crispix. Cheerios and Rice Crispies are too boring and not satisfying. The fake sugar stuff made with monk fruit is NOT it. Would love new ideas!!

Blueberry and Strawberry Vanilla Chex only being available in United States sucks. As someone that has to eat Gluten free and eats a lot of Chex I really need those in Canada. We got blueberry for a limited time years ago and it never came back. ðŸ˜

Have you ever sat down to have a bowl..... and ended up CRUSHING the entire box in one sitting? I swear cereal is probably the easiest thing for me to overeat. Not cookies... not ice cream... darn cereal 🤣

They've gone too far! I chickened out and left it on the shelf.

Is it regular flavor, or is there a slight hint of berry?

Found in Canada, noticed that ingredients list artificial flavors so I'm afraid this is that fake table syrup taste instead of maple.
