Wooden Phantom Chessboard - First impressions

Post image

Being hones i am very impressed with the quality of their board. I just got the full wooden chess pieces and look amazing!

I am testing the software and has an option to play famous games. Looks very interesting.

The impossible first move is noticeable and annoying. The men and board are beautiful tho.

It's not an impossible overall position though. White could have moved one of their knights back and forth. This could be black's third move, at the earliest.

I have a Square Off board and was disappointed by how slow and loud the movement was. Also it’s larger than most 24” boards and demands a lot of space. Looked up the site for this, the movement looks smoother unless the video has been sped up. I notice they add unnecessary music to mask the movement sounds.

Looks gorgeous! After all this time, what ended up being your landed cost for the board and upgraded pieces?

I live in texas so it was pretty cheap the shipment around 60usd. the chess pieces aropund 270 usd, i did not like too much the bottom metal part of the original ones and the wood of the chess pieces is darkwalnut so i am pretty happy with them.

I'll be honest, I thought I'd never really want a self-moving chessboard, because of the "clunkyness" of the motors and the magnetised pieces; but chessnut move gave me a new hope. Their piece design is a little weird because of the imbued batteries in every piece, but I REALLY hope it gets popular enough that someday in the future we'll have a board with all pieces able to simultaneously move at accessible prices!

Yo, I gotta say, the Phantom Chessboard in sculpture mode is so dang smooth and silent it’s basically magic. I watched those videos you mentioned, and dude, those robots? Straight-up WEIRD. They move like those sketchy, cheap cars that just lurch around with zero logic, and the clunky piece noises? Total dollar-store vibes. I’m all about that classic design, man. Looks like a regular chessboard when people roll up to my place, but when it starts moving on its own? Minds BLOWN.
