Other material I started to try and learn seriously recently, I decided to invest. I’m happy.

I used to play when I was young with my mom while getting ice cream, I always just played with guesses and gut feeling. For awhile now I wanted to try and really learn even though I knew I’d struggle to really understand strategy and looking ahead. I started playing on chess.com, going against bots, coaches, puzzles, and their lessons. So far I have absolutely improved as their 250 bots where super hard for me and I beat their 400 bots now. But I’m not a huge fan of playing on a screen so I started looking for an electronic board as my wife has no interest in chess. Ended up getting the Chessnut Evo, figured it would provide the most features to help improve and give a better visual to me with a physical board. Last night I played 2 600 bots and a 675 through its bot and career modes.

Sculpted and molded this chess set back in 1980, long before the great movies came out. Made 10 sets using crummy liquid latex rubber molds- every piece was tweaked by hand... Two-part silicone wasn't readily available back then. Molded in No.1 molding powder- dries way harder than plaster of Paris.

Plan to make new masters from one of each piece and make new silicone molds!

Board was made from variegated glass mirror tiles.

Hi all!

I posted this in r/chess but it got taken down as I guess I should’ve posted it here! I just finished this project over the weekend after spending over two months on it. I’ve been doing pottery for a little over 2 years and this is my most ambitious project yet. I feel fairly proud so I thought you might all appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

It's conserved inside the Museo del Bargello in Florence, Italy. I visited the museum today and the board is absolutely amazing! On the other side of the board there is tric-trac board. I found more info in the Italian Historic property catalogue if anyone wants to know more about it! (Unfortunately it's only in Italian)

Timur is a chess grandmaster from Uzbekistan, and he's also an experienced skydiver. On his way to a tournament in California he jumped from an aircraft wearing a checkered jumpsuit, and holding a chess board with magnetic chess pieces to ensure they stayed in position. He set up a position based on a game from 1760 played in France between Jean-Jacques Rousseau and the prince de Conti.

Swipe to see several pictures that I found of this feat. You can also see some videos of it here:

I love both playing chess and sewing, and made a bag to hold my chess pieces that’s flat when fully open and inside is a chess board. It has taken me ages to complete as I also embroidered around the edge the Duchamp quote: “Not all artists are chess players but all chess players are artists”. Hope you guys like it!
