CHAMPION CHILI INDEED! I came back like I said I would, and I won first place!!! Wooo! BUT I had to make some drastic last minute changes at the end. It was waaaay too spicy. My judges are old white ladies. Mayonnaise is too spicy for them lol. I did 100% everything listed here tho. Thank you so much!!

Hey that’s awesome, congrats! I wouldn’t call it “CHAMPION” Chili if it wasn’t a winner. I guess I forgot to mention that I like the spice. Maybe the jalapeños could be substituted with something more mild?

I liked the spice don’t get me wrong. This recipe makes so much chili , that I put a ton of the spicy stuff off to the side for me. I just added a little more tomato sauce and tomato paste to dilute the spice a bit. Then added butter, lemon juice, and brown sugar to tip the scales with some sweetness. It worked incredibly well. A minor snap of sweetness at the start, then a massive wave of heat. It was the whole talk at my work. I greatly appreciate you sharing this homie. Thank you!

Did you add more garlic? I saw a comment that said I wasn’t putting enough in.

Nope I stuck with the 1 tablespoon of garlic. My wife was watching me cook this and she was already like “damn that’s a lot of garlic!” lol I was considering adding another tablespoon. Everybody got different taste I guess.
