Meal-prep chili. I’ve got 3 of these guys left in the freezer

Post image

Sort of a mix between Texas and Cincinnati chili. Ingredients below:

2lbs chuck beef

1 large onion

6 cloves garlic

2 tbsp chicken bouillon

2 tbsp tomato paste

4 cups of water, if memory serves? Maybe 5

3 tbsp ancho chile powder

1 tbsp chipotle chile powder

1 tbsp cinnamon

1 tbsp coriander

1 tbsp allspice

Whoops, forgot to add 1 tbsp of masa harina, for thickening. 1tbsp of oregano too.

I have yet to try this for thickening. Does it alter the flavor or color at all?

Not really! It’s pretty similar to flour, just a flavorless thickening agent. I’d say it’s more suited to chili than flour though, if nothing else for the Tex-Mex theme.

Try 1 cup of steel-cut oats at T-45 for thickening and health.

Hm, I’ll definitely consider that. I’m a bit concerned about the texture, but I don’t see why I can’t just put them in a food processor first.

This is a generic reminder message under every image post

Thank you for your picture post to r/chili. We want to remind everyone of Rule #1. All image posts should be accompanied by something to foster discussion. A comment, a question, etc is encouraged.

If you've posted a picture of chili, please explain why in a comment so people can have some sort of conversation. Simply dropping a picture of food in the sub isn't really fostering any discussion which is what we're all aiming for.

Posts that are a picture with no discussion can and will be removed by the mods.

Thank you!!
