Christmas Chili I Forgot to Upload Until Now.

Post image

The ingredients are as follows:

1/2 TBS. Onion Powder

1 TBS. Chili Powder

1 TBS. Cumin

1 1/2 Pounds of some meat I found in the freezer

2 Bell peppers

24 oz. Salsa

6 oz. Tomato Paste

1 can of Black beans

1 can of Pinto beans

Some mushrooms (the normal kind!)

Maybe potatoes?

From what I recall, it turned out pretty good, albeit like it was missing something.

No offense. But it looks a bit dry. Add some water slowly and stir.

It’s so dry it looks like dog food…

That was just what i was coming on here to say. It looks like it needs more tomato sauce or something.

Please explain what tomorrow sauce is. Enlighten us.

It's sauce that you make the day before you use it.

None taken! I've been racking my brain trying to figure out my thought process on this one. Best I could come up with is I had assumed at the time the somewhat soupy salsa I used would have been sufficient. (shrugs) Ah well, lesson learned!

You think I could've gone longer? ;)

Looks dry. Needs water or a broth. Splash of beer helps.

Missing beef broth.

I was going through my hard drive and found this. Is there anything you would add to perfect it?

More liquid and a longer cook time

Others have mentioned how it looks dry, another easy bump of liquid could be squeezing a lime or two into it.

Also as my flair suggests, unless that jar of salsa was at least "medium" I'd want at least a nicely diced jalapeno (seeds and all) added for some heat =) But that's just my preference!

This is a generic reminder message under every image post

Thank you for your picture post to r/chili. We want to remind everyone of Rule #1. All image posts should be accompanied by something to foster discussion. A comment, a question, etc is encouraged.

If you've posted a picture of chili, please explain why in a comment so people can have some sort of conversation. Simply dropping a picture of food in the sub isn't really fostering any discussion which is what we're all aiming for.

What makes it christmas chili?

2

u/The_Captain_Whymzi 24d ago

Mostly the fact it was Christmas dinner. Didn't feel like doing a traditional meal last year.

1

u/1king80 24d ago

You need a can or two of diced tomatoes and maybe a can of tomato sauce.

How does one make chili look so dry!!! ?? WTF

1

u/The_Captain_Whymzi 23d ago

Now that is a very good question!

is this a recent picture?

I wish. A combination of procrastination, laziness, and forgetfulness on my part would probably explain why it took eight months to post this.

Did you empty a diaper into the pot?

It was more about "showing my work" as it were rather than expecting anyone to actually recreate it.

You should have dumped a big box of saltines in a bowl and set it in the center of the table to punctuate the contempt you have for your family at the holidays.

What family?
