Discussion My Chromebook updates never seem to add anything — is it just security patches?

I have a Lenovo Flex 3 15.6" Chromebook that I’ve been using for a few months, and I’ve noticed that Chrome OS updates feel a bit strange. They don’t really add any new features — it just seems like security updates.

It’s not like Android updates where you sometimes get new options and extras. With my Chromebook it feels like nothing even changed after an update.

Is this just how Chromebooks work, or is it something specific to my model? Do better Chromebook laptops get more noticeable updates?

Curious what others have experienced.

Thanks

Since new ChromeOS versions come out every four weeks, and since it's a pretty mature OS, most of the updates will be incremental. If you check the release notes, are there any new features you didn't receive? If you go to Settings -> About ChromeOS what version does it say you're on?
