Buying Advice Chromebook advice

Hi I'm looking for a CB plus with the following characteristics.

I'm planning to retire soon, and I want something I can use to write books on. So good keyboard, and has longevity.

  1. 12 - 13 inch FHD screen
  2. Preferably 16:10
  3. Arm device with long battery life.
  4. 16 GB Ram
  5. 256 GB nvme m.2 ssd.
  6. Light weight. Max 900g
  7. Built in 5g modem if available.
  8. At least 10 years on AUD
  9. Linux and Android support.
  10. Global warrentee.
  11. Not an ACER

Price is not really an object, so long as it's not extortionate. 750 USD max.

yeah, fair enough, you've had a bad experience with the brand, I get that - if that was my experience, I too would feel the same

One was a spin 713 cb, near perfect machine for what I wanted, 16gb i7 etc.

It lasted 6 months, then started to black screen on boot. Sent it in on warrentee, they changed the MB took them 3 months, then after I got it back, it lasted 1 month and then started throwing memory access errors. Not dead, but not useable for more than 15 mins. Junk.

That's shocking, wow, I've not had that experience with Acer stuff, but I'm also really shocked it took them 3 months for a simple motherboard swap under warranty - that's ridiculous

I'll keep it mind when looking at Acer now

The time was that they had no spares locally (Thailand) so they had to send to the US for the part.

even then, still shouldn't have taken 3 months, that's insane - I know it's gone half way round the world at this point, but that's poor customer service ........ at that point, I think they should've just replaced the machine, like for like
