Is it fine to make mistakes in pronunciation for praying while learning ?

I reverted last week, have been praying 5 times a day since but obviously as a person who’s reverted and wasn’t religious at all beforehand, I am learning to pray, only languages I speak are Spanish, Welsh, English, so Arabic is hard for me to pronounce sometimes although when took shahada they were shocked and thought I done it already, is it ok making mistakes in pronunciation during my prayers, thanks for whoever replies

May Allah SWT reward you immensely for your efforts.

Narrated Aisha:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Such a person as recites the Qur'an and masters it by heart, will be with the noble righteous scribes (in Heaven). And such a person exerts himself to learn the Qur'an by heart, and recites it with great difficulty, will have a double reward."

Sorry not related to your question…but I’m considering taking my shahada…from someone who also wasn’t religious, may I ask what your story is? I’m really intrigued by other reverts who’s come to Islam that wasn’t religious

it is impossible to not make any mistakes in pronouncing a language you haven't learned yet. As you learn more, you will get better, inshaAllaah. Best thing to do is to ask around at your local mosque if there is anyone who can help you with your pronunciation. Since you are already multilingual, you should pick it up a little quicker than a monolingual person, but it'll take some feedback and practice.

At first you will make mistakes, keep practising as a revert we're starting from new Arabic is 1 of the hardest languages to learn! Inshallah we'll get it right.

As long as you try your best and attempt to correct those mistakes you will be fine

Allah only asks of a soul what it is capable of.

Allah is ever merciful looking for ways to have mercy on us, not for ways to find shortcomings so he could punish us.

If we think highly and good of Allah, it will be so, and if we think otherwise it will be so.

I heard from some knowledgeable brothers that you can even recite in your mother tongue if you are still learning

Innal aamaal binniyath. The important part is that you pray not your pronounciation because all your actions are rewarded as per what is the wish in your deepest thoughts. If your deepest wish is to please Allah then your pronounciation does not matter. Remember the poem Abou bin Adam.

U don't learn Arabic overnight. It's perfectly fine to make mistakes. It takes years for even born Muslims to master the pronounciation. So don't worry just keep striving to improve urself day by day.

Welcome back to Islam🥳 Yes of course it’s okay!

Islam is a religion of ease not hardship and you’ll get the hang of it inshaAllah 🥰 plus you’re not alone, most Muslims aren’t native Arabic speakers anyway!

Congratulations! What a tremendous blessing to have only recently converted and already establishing the prayer. The Messenger صلّى الله عليه وسلم said:

عَنْ ‌بُرَيْدَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْعَهْدُ الَّذِي بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَهُمُ الصَّلَاةُ فَمَنْ تَرَكَهَا فَقَدْ كَفَرَ

Buraydah reported: The Messenger of Allah صلّى الله عليه وسلم said, “The covenant between us and them is the prayer, so whoever abandons it has committed unbelief.”

May Allah keep you firm upon His religion.

As long as you are praying by yourself and making progress towards correcting the mistakes, then there is no problem, in sha Allah. Some mistakes may change the meaning and because pronouncing specific phrases and reciting Al-Fatiha are obligatory for the prayer to be valid, you must continue to work towards perfecting your pronunciation and memorization.

At this stage you are incapable, so there is no blame on you. Continue making progress and remember that the most beloved deeds to Allah are those done consistently, even if they are few.

May Allah bless you and may He guide your family.

It's completely fine

Since it's all about the intentions and the efforts

No one is perfect and no one will ever be

It is absolutely fine to make pronunciation mistakes while praying, especially when learning Arabic as a new Muslim. Scholars agree that minor mistakes in pronunciation do not invalidate the prayer as long as they do not change the meaning of the words. If the mistakes are due to genuine difficulty learning the language or letters, your prayer is still valid.

For example, if a letter or vowel is mispronounced slightly but the overall meaning of the words is preserved, this is excused. However, if one intentionally omits or replaces letters that change the meaning and the person is able to correct it but does not, that can affect the validity of the prayer. But if the inability to pronounce letters correctly is genuine and unavoidable at the moment, the prayer is valid, and you are encouraged to keep learning and improving gradually.

In short, new Muslims are given leniency with pronunciation as they learn, and the important part is sincerity in your prayers and effort to improve. Keep praying five times a day—this is an excellent beginning—and ask Allah for ease in learning the correct pronunciation.
