Best mobile provider for good data coverage in SW.

Im looking for recommendations for a 30 day SIM package, at a fair price and data coverage for someone doing a 3.5 week trip to UK and needs mobile data to work remotely (as they might not be able to guarantee every accommodation will have good WiFi). Does anyone know which provider offers the best option for someone who will staying in the South West - Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Hampshire and a short stint in Gloucestershire. A few friends from the area recommend EE? Seems like they do £10 pack for 6mb but can top if needed - most concerned about good signal. Thanks!

As much as I like the Summer bustle it’s nice to take a step back and breathe when September arrives. Porth beach looking splendid this evening.

Good aged care/home help services

Hello all from Australia.

I moved down here from the Redruth area 20 years ago, but my now elderly parents still live in the area. They are starting to struggle and have some support but I'm trying to see what I might be able to arrange from here.

Ideally, I'd like to help them move into an independant living/retirement/lifestyle village. The kind of place that has an estate of bungalows that elderly people can live in on their own terms but have nearby support.

Alternatively, a reliable and considerate home help service.

Can anyone give any recommendations?

Am I being passive - aggressively being told that I'm unwelcome? Long time migrant

So Ive lived in the UK for 20 years this Xmas (14 in London) and have spent more than half my adult life here. I have my Indefinite Leave to Remain visa and have plans to get my UK passport.

Ive been to Cornwall on and off for 2 years but settled in a small town since the start of the year (renting). I love it here and don't want to leave. I contribute to the area through work and volunteering. I feel very fortunate to be here.

That said, in the past week, I have encountered several people who have expressed strong opinions about migrants and taken me to task about my accent (which has stubbonly remained despite my best efforts to lose it), and why I'm here and not my country of birth. The tone has not been lighthearted as its been in the past. Instead, it's been rather accusatory.

My ancestors from my grandfather back have all descended from England, Scotland, Northern Ireland or Ireland. It hasn't seemed to placate the people who have confronted me this past week (some tourists but also some locals).

Anyone else experience this kind of thing?

Opportunist Thieves? (Penryn)

A bit of a weird one but any thoughts would be helpful.

At about 12:30am this morning we had a low loader show up on our driveway. Reversed in, 3 men got out, shined a light on our driveway bollard (it's private and no parking except for us) and then on the winch of the vehicle.

Thankfully we heard them, went downstairs and turned the lights on. It seemed to spook them and eventually they left. They looked almost drunk in their movements. I also managed to get a picture of the numberplate which showed the vehicle was actually SORN.

It was rather strange, and we assumed this was something to do with the ongoing dispute we have with our neighbour trespassing on the driveway where he is assuming he has a right to park on it (we have solicitors and the police involved as he drove into and then subsequently stole our original bollard, so we bought a newer one and chemically bonded it to the driveway) and we thought they might have been sent by him to rip out our bollard with the winch.

It would seem like this may have been targeted as our driveway is quite concealed, even the Postman, Amazon and other delivery drivers sometimes can't find it. Then again, they may have been opportunist thieves looking for a quick score, but with a low loader for transporting cars, and with no cars currently on our driveway they took a long time to move off.

Any thoughts would be grand, or if you've seen similar men with a low loader around, then we can assume it's probably just thieves.

Do most Cornish people know the pronunciation of Cornish words and place names even if they don’t speak Cornish or understand it?

Booked a trip to St Austell, now im having doubts. Is it really that bad?

Me and my mom has booked a trip to st Austell from Scandinavia cause we wanted to see a part of England that isnt London, also im excited to see the Eden Project. We dont really know anything about At Austell except for the pictures that looked promising. But now ive read about people calling it unsafe and nicknaming it St Awful. Is it really that bad? Im just worried we will get robbed or harassed for being from out of town for the week we are there.

Please help a girl out!!

So I took this polaroid a few days ago on the way back home from St Ives and it didnt develop properly 💔

I was wondering if some kind soul would be able to retake the photo roughly where Ive put the yellow circle at the angle where you can see the pier and lighthouse as shown in the red box (if you could get some of the ramp in as well at high tide that would be amazing)? Id like to surprise my boyfriend with a painting version of the lost photo (as we did not take another) I believe it was taken around 8pm - sometime after sunset. I think the location is just infront of the Sloop Inn on Wharf road.

I would appreciate any and all photos a lot, please do consider taking the trip!!

(I'd also like to clarify I have asked for photos to be taken as I have scoured the internet to no avail 😞)

books for learning cornish?

I’m looking to learn cornish as a beginner, but I can’t work out if any of the books i’m looking at online are actually interactive in any way (I’m thinking like the French worksheets you’d be given in school type thing). I have a history of being terrible at learning languages lol and I don’t think I’d take anything in from books that are mostly just lists of words. Does anyone have any recs for books that have helped them learn? Thank you!! :)
