Hey Community!! 😄 I LOVE seeing people post videos of themselves dancing and having a good time. So I just had the thought and I would like to do a Poll on the idea:
My thought is let's have a global forum dance talent show!
How it would work: - You would submit a video of you dancing within a specified time frame to qualify. - Our dance Community here would go through each day and upvote and comment on the videos they would like to continue on to the next round. - I would then go in (maybe appoint someone to help me moderate) and would tally up all the likes and upvotes. - there week be 3-5 rounds to keep everyone engaged and having fun. Sort of like our very own dance competition TV show.
If you like this idea: Upvote and put "YES!" in the comments
If you're not into it: DownVote & put "Not Interested" in the comments section
Seems like this could be a lot of fun and get the Community we have here more active with one another.
Happy Dancing! I'm looking forward to hearing y'alls thoughts! ✨️

Hello! I (27F) am just looking to talk to people with some experience in this area. I'm looking into dance minors and majors, not even sure if it's a road I want to go down yet, but I figure some testimonials from you guys could help me decide if it's a worthwhile investment! Here's the breakdown:
So my main questions here are: Is college necessary or would it at minimum be worthwhile? If yes, what colleges would you suggest? If not, is there anything else you can recommend considering the above points? Should I be thinking about business courses additionally/instead?
Thanks in advance to everyone who reads all this and comments!

I'm having so much fun learning dance choreography on Youtube lately... my first choreography I've learned is for the song Chaiya Chaiya :)
What's the first one you ever learned?
I'd love to try some new ones out!

I am a dancer (in the sense that I freestyle in my room, have little training). An agency that I wanted to apply for now is auditioning for new dancers, and I think I should go for it despite little experience. Any advice?

I've been practicing House dance for over a year now, but I'm hitting a wall with moves that require hip extension while kicking the leg forward. Or anything similar to that manner. It feels like something's "stuck" in my ligaments or muscles around the hip – especially the front side.
When I try to stretch (like splits or one-leg stretches), it doesn't help; it actually feels tighter afterward, almost painful.
To provide more context, I'm also a gymnist with quite large mass of muscle. I'm 78 kilograms of weight, 5.5 feet tall with 18% of bodyfat.
I'm wondering if this is hip flexor tightness or muscle imbalance from overtraining. I feel the tightness from my hip and hamstring whenever I need to to some kicking in my dance lesson. Has anyone experienced this? What stretches, strengthening exercises, or warm-ups worked for you? Should I see a physio?
Tips appreciated – I'm dedicated but frustrated!

Hi everybody! I'm a dancer, been dancing for 12 years now and I'm trying to become super flexible! I love love love ballet and I'm trying my best to become really flexible. What are your routines? How long did this take? I've never been really flexible, I can do kicks and I'm getting closer to my splits on my left side and I'm definitely getting limber from my stretching. But what have you guys done to become even more bendy? :) <3
Edit: I know how to stretch but Ive never really been that consistent with it, I can do basic turns and kicks and adagio etc. but I think that consistency is the key to becoming even better. As dance is my passion I'm doing my best to improve!

ADVICE PLSPLSPLSPLSPLS. Clip is from about three weeks ago but went to another class today and struggled with the same things 😭 panicking at full speed mode and leg work, and it completely messes me up every time. I notice filming I especially struggle not having a mirror. Not sure how to get over that either. I feel like that messed me up even more, as well as getting very embarrassed because the others in my class are FAR better with staying on the music with the speed.

i know this should probably be posted in the ballet subreddit but they have a bunch of requirements to be able to post and i don't meet them, so hopefully this works here. im a somewhat beginner to ballet and am very new to jazz, and we just started going over jazz and ballet pirouettes in my technique class. im not sure if this makes much sense but whenever i messily go up into my ballet pirouettes and don't hit retiré where it should be, i do a lot better than when i do hit it right. whenever i do hit it, right as i get to where it should be, the heel of my supporting leg wants to fall out of relevé. i don't have this problem with my jazz pirouettes though, in fact im really good at them for having just learned them. so could it be a turnout issue? cuz my turnout could definitely use some work. or is it something else? any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
