I remember seeing a story of 2 soldiers who made a bet where one of them had to wear a bright green dress to others funeral and one of them died and the other one actually showed up at the funeral wearing the dress

A friend in the Marines from our group killed himself, his name was Ian Forry. Hell of a dude. He saved his commanding officers life after his legs were blown off from an IED by tying them off with a tourniquet, so also a literal war hero. This gave him severe PTSD and he never got better. He just impulsively shot himself one day over a breakup with a girl.
His best friend had a similar agreement, but with a Hawaiian shirt suit (suit with fabric styled like a Hawaiian shirt on top and bottom). He was the only person not wearing black, but everyone respected him for doing it.

That picture of him kneeling by the grave is powerful.
When Barry knelt down at Kevin’s graveside to ask him if he liked the color of his dress, he broke down in tears. He was realizing that best friend was gone and that they couldn’t share a laugh about how Barry looked in his dress like they did when they made the pact.

Me and my friend made a bet in 1st grade that whoever died first, the survivor had to show up to their funeral in a full on grim reaper costume and freak out the family. 20 years later she hasn’t backed out of so I can’t either because I’m not a pussy. I swear to god though if that idiot dies first and I have to pull up with a scythe I’m gonna kill her.

A childhood friend of mine had brain cancer and shortly before he passed I was dealing with my liver and kidneys pretty much shutting down. I joked with him that which ever of us dies first the other should walk up to the casket and audibly say "I Win" and well... I won, and got better.
