Yeah no. These things don’t earn much money. It’s still (thankfully) stigmatized to pay for a prostitute, as well as it is stigmatized to be one.
Victimless crime is dumb
Laws are made to reflect our collective morality. Your morality may be that nothing with no victims is bad, others disagree. Completely subjective and pointless point.
You’ll finally get laid
I honestly don’t know whether to laugh at or to feel bad for people who pay for prostitutes. Like, I genuinely can’t imagine someone so desperate for sex that they pay money for it.
You're the one who wants to take away bodily autonomy and people's rights over a victimless crime. Now please get your head out of your ass and stop acting like you have a leg to stand on in morality.
There is a difference between one's bodily autonomy and incorporating morally debatable and extremely hazardous environment into regular fabric of society.
Laws are made to reflect our collective morality. Yeah it doesn’t do that. It increases it.Your morality may be that nothing with no victims is bad, others disagree. Completely subjective and pointless point.
Arresting people hurts them. So we shouldn't arrest people over victimless crimes. It's basic morality.

Do you cook all your meals or do you sometimes pay someone to do it for you?

Driving at 100 mph thru the school zone is a victimless crime. Why are you giving me a ticket? It hurts me.
Owning a fully functional tank is a victimless crime. Why are you confiscating it? It hurts me.
Having unregistered slot machines is a victimless crime. Why are you taking them away? It hurts me.
You see a society decided that it would be better to warn of or punish people just a little before their actions turn from inconveniences into a big f problems.

A person can live a century without any sexual activity but most people would starve to death after just a few weeks without food. Putting an equal sign between using a prostitute and getting a takeaway is not just wrong but downright stupid.
Like, I genuinely can’t imagine someone so desperate for sex that they pay money for it.
Given that at least tens of millions of men around the world on an annual basis do that and have done since the dawn of civilisation, that says more about you than anything else. For me I haven't in years but when I was a Marine stuck on a ship for weeks at a time, I did mostly out of boredom whenever we pulled into a port.

Gotta level up that reading comprehension there Broseph Stalin.
Eh, it was one way to deal with the boredom on a ship. I don't regret it, wouldn't do it today. It's a very common reason why loads of people do it now and always have done.
I hired consenting adults to provide a service, yes. Lots of people hire other people for services all the time. I mean, you can clutch your pearls all day long but it's removed from reality.
If you don’t understand that most prostitutes are prostitutes because they are pressured into doing it, I’m not going to spend a second of my time arguing with y’all
I don't think their point was about qualification. Their comment doesn't read to me like they'd be more accepting of prostitution if there was some sort of exam involved. Legalizing it would certainly involve registration and health check ups, I doubt having some special education would be very necessary.
They are services provided because people have needs they want to meet.
Yeah, there are also people who need to get things for cheap or get rid of someone yet we still put thieves and assassins in jails. Just because someone needs something doesn't mean they should get it.
All rather harmless.
If I'm working a regular job and follow Health and Safety procedures the worst I should get at the end of the day is a headache or a back pain. Even more risky jobs like a farmer or a machinist get safer each and every day as the technology progresses and regulations get stricter. I can also quit most of the jobs any time I want and after getting some rest not have a single sign that I worked here or there.
You simply cannot say the same about prostitution. No matter how technology and medicine progresses. No matter what laws and regulations are implemented. Because at the end of the day it is just an exploitation of another person's body at the most primitive and filthy level. All so that someone might satisfy their desire.

Wow someone who wants to ban prostitution turns out to be a prude who just thinks sex is somehow extra gross and exploitative. What a rare and unusual occurrence. /sarcasm
I think that there is quite a big difference between having sex with someone you love or find attractive and having sex with whoever is willing to pay so that you could earn your keep.
Do you think all intensive labor positions should be outlawed since the labor requires you to sacrifice your body more than the average office job will? I mean guys in construction barely have any range of motion in their joints when they retire, should all construction jobs be outlawed?
If somebody gets the required tests and practices safe sexual hygiene they will LITERALLY have just the same problems as you, a sore back or a headache.
It feels like the argument of “this labor is different” is entirely unfounded when we have labor that requires violence, death, and extreme risk.
*If there were no lumberjacks there would be no wood for our furniture and houses.
*If there were no construction workers there would be no one to build said houses.
*If there were no electricians and plumbers we wouldn't be able to live in those houses as safely and comfortably as we do now.
*If there were no farmers and fishermen we would starve.
*If there were no miners we wouldn't have materials for modern infrastructure.
*If there were no roughnecks we wouldn't have petrol for our cars, trucks, planes and ships.
*If there were no police officers or soldiers we would be overrun by criminals and militias.
*If there were no prostitutes there would be few guys walking around with unsucked dicks.
Yeah... If I had to lose one I know which one I would choose.
So, anyways I think that my argument still stands. I guarantee you that almost every dangerous job on this planet would disappear or transform if it wasn't needed. But so far we weren't able to find safer and more efficient ways to achieve our goals and progress as a society so it is what it is. Meanwhile prostitutes exist not to fulfill the need but a desire as indicated by the fact that more than 99% of society can happily live their whole life without ever using their services.

I'm pretty sure that's not how human body works when it comes to sex.
Good f luck with enforcing strict sanitary regime in a brothel.

There's other materials we can make furniture and houses out of. How is it consistent for you to want to ban prostitution but not lumberjacks?

Stuntman, sword swallower, fire breather, tightrope walker, racecar driver, daredevil. Those are all dangerous jobs done just to entertain an audience.

Well, those materials still need to be dug up and refined so the lumberjacks would have to go underground in more than one way.
While we're at it banning the lumberjacks would butcher the chemical and printing industries. It would also make building houses extremely expensive if not impossible turning housing market into even greater shitshow than it is now. But I digress...

Good point. However the job of a prostitute has characteristics that make it a bit different and quite suitable for said ban.
I've heard of a kidnapped girls tricked or forced to work in perfectly legal German brothels. Never heard of someone getting kidnapped and forced to drive a racecar.
I've heard about prostitutes getting abused and beaten by their clients. Something quite unheard-of among tightrope walkers.
I've heard of prostitutes getting STD's while serving their clients. A rare occurrence among sword swallowers.
