I went the other way, I harboured militant rage and the next person to wrong me was going to get all my impotent frustration. its been like 20 years and no one wronged me, and now I'm like well I guess people are mostly good. live and let live.
I turn 35 tomorrow. It will be what it is for a long, long time. And there is no "them", either. Just us quietly brooding night after night, watching as the once bright and snapping logs fade into glowing embers, and eventually crumbling into cold cinders. Then you reach for the bottle at your elbow and find it empty as the moaning wind gathers and the gloaming fails, leaving nothing but shadows
Yeah, this choice isn't made one time and then forgotten about. The people who perform the most violent acts out of some sense of vengeance have always been kicked repeatedly while they were down first. Every kick is its own crossroads.
Yeah you should pick your battles wisely. You cannot afford to fight everyone but sometimes you have to take a stand and let them know that it's not you who's gonna bow out this time.
