When I hit 22, my first wife drugged me and left in the middle of the night after I was laid off from the company I had been at for 2 years, taking my daughter, my pickup and everything of value.
I lost the ability to see my child but for 4 days a month because she could afford a lawyer, I had to take council from a family friend who didn't handle custody law as I wasn't able to pay for my own after she cleaned out the bank account. Her father was a well-known local federal agent who did training for the law enforcement in the region I lived. In other words, all the cops knew him and I was a target. When she did crazy shit, cops never did anything. She hid my child from me and they wouldn't lift a fucking finger.
It poisoned my soul for years.
I'm now 42, have a great career, and a beautiful wife whom I love deeply. My daughter moved in with us when she transitioned to high school and is now graduating college this year. My wife and I have 2 other children, my 17 year old son and 15 year old daughter. Life is much better now.
The ex has been placed on a mental health hold by her current husband, has seizures from a previously undiagnosed disorder that caused the death of 20% of her brain, and can't maintain a job.
I feel sorry for her.
Things come back to you eventually.
Don't let it ruin your life.
