They are making it, main filming is done and reshoots are going on rn, probably late this year or early next year release

Better than them trying to drag it out and running out of ideas.

For sure, my only thought was since they apparently doing larger time skips in the second season that they may had some more stories to tell and where a bit cut of by Disney

Good, tell the story and be done. No need to drag it out

Well, we know where it eventually goes, so it already had a definitive ending. I agree it's a shame, though.

I think they tried to move away from the Skywalker formula ever since the sequel trilogy was a critical failure with mediocre returns, at least the live-action products (the animated stuff and games are well received).

Rogue One was the first attempt at something different. And it succeeded more that anyone thought possible for an original SW storyline. Mandalorian, Obi Wan, Ahsoka and Boba Fett were attempts at new storylines using popular elements from the original (& side) works. Mandalorian worked well for the most part, Obi Wan managed to weaponize nostalgia well enf to be a success and Boba Fett was an utter defeat.

But then Andor came along out of nowhere (Lucasfilms trying a hand at the success of Rogue One and shooting their shot). The incredible critical and financial success that followed were purely Tony Gilroy's. Intelligent, thought-provoking, evocative storylines with an incredible script, world-building and character work; and I think Tony Gilroy is solely responsible for it.

The Acolyte was the next attempt at something new, and Lucasfilms gave it to an unexperienced short runner and writing staff. I don't think it's bad, it's just very mediocre with nonsensical elements. Fans ask for original stuff, they can't seem to consistently deliver, but there are occasional wonders like Andor thanks to seasoned and skilled artists behind it.

No idea how anyone can think it's dogshit. If you don't rate it that's fine, but it's far from dogshit lmao
