I disabled all notifs for reddit, its very annoying hoe often it asks for perms

Does Reddit ask for perms or does your phone? For me I've disabled most but not all notifications on Reddit but then on my phone I disabled the app notifications as a whole. Reddit has never asked me for any perms.
