When everyone around you is an asshole, it’s probably you that is the asshole.

u/Hockex-4 Jan 30 '25
that’s sooooo true! but not for me!

u/Eerayo Jan 30 '25
Hey! It is true for me! Can't be true for both of us, and I am obviously the smart one here.

u/qbmast Jan 30 '25
it sounds nice but it doesn't make sense. Why would that be true?
8
u/TheUnholyMacerel Jan 30 '25
Pretty sure it's not litteral but if it is: it just depends on the situation
8
u/AragogTehSpidah Jan 30 '25
if you are surrounded by overzealous brainwashed warmongers then it's probably not true
6
u/bshootingu I love this sub with all my ❤️ Jan 30 '25
Because people have a hard time being objective. The actual chance of everyone around a person being an asshole is astronomically low. What is far more likely is that if you perceive everyone around you to be an asshole, you have a warped world view and are very likely an asshole that is projecting. It makes perfect sense.

u/aech4 Jan 30 '25
Meme is wrong. Boomers get Fox News, gen z gets TikTok, and millennials get YouTube. We’re all lobotomized by media
4
u/syphon3980 Jan 30 '25
Almost true. They did a lot of polling to see the voting demographics based on age, and found slightly more boomers vote democrat. One of the big drivers was social security
2
u/aech4 Jan 30 '25
Seems exactly in line with boomer voting patterns. No morals, no ethics, just voting whichever way they think will give them more money.

Unironically most people do not critically engage with most aspects of their lives. Not because they’re stupid or incapable, most people just are not into politics, and it’s easier for them to simply run with narratives that conform to their world-view. Therefore the average voter has no coherent political ideology, and you get people who vote for Trump because they’re under the delusion that he will fix the economy.
6
u/murkgod Jan 30 '25
Then big surprise that Trump do not plan to ease the costs of living for the average Joe but to gain profit for the already rich. Deportation of illegal immigrants hell yeah for the average Joe but then big surprise that companies don't have enough employees anymore for cheap labour leading to more increased products prices. The average Joe is just too lazy to think for five minutes about the consequences of every political decision. That's why things don't change the way the average Joe's want them.
5
u/herecomestheshun Jan 30 '25
And when the economy crashes like they intend, average Joe will have no choice but to work in the fields to replace the cheap labor
2
u/AncleJack EX-NORMIE Jan 30 '25
I love the that average joe that doesn't use his brain is an American
7
u/floggedlog Jan 30 '25
Oh Europeans are just as bad. Look at knife licenses, for example. Americans don’t have to sign a “no stabbing” agreement and wait for the knife to be mailed to them.
1
u/AncleJack EX-NORMIE Jan 30 '25
Lol never saw or heard about anything like that but it sounds like some kingdom that created the American colony
0
u/murkgod Jan 30 '25
Europeans ( I am one) are also lazy and stupid. Average Joe is just everywhere presented.
-2
u/AncleJack EX-NORMIE Jan 30 '25
Sure i just liked that you used an American example for them to understand
0
u/Moldy_Teapot Jan 30 '25
Not because they’re stupid or incapable
Most people are incapable though. Well over a majority of adult Americans can't critically analyze beyond an elementary school level.
3
u/Schpau ☝ FOREVER NUMBER ONE ☝ Jan 30 '25
I mean they are not innately stupid or incapable, they have the brain parts they need. They just don't critically analyze things so they aren't good at it.
24
u/samik100 Jan 30 '25
Millenials are often good at critical thinking because they grew up with old medias and adapted the new ones so they had to learn more aspects than most
2
u/SWHAF Jan 30 '25
Mostly the last of Gen x and early to mid Millennials. It's like its own sub generation. The last of the millennials were growing up with the internet already being a thing.

Op is obviously coping. Just like gen x, we have no spine and let boomers step all over us
99
u/AveragePredditor Jan 30 '25
Not sure were OP gets the idea that millenials are free of scrutiny.
millennials are known for their 'only what I care about actually matters' mentality—yet they're too soft to take real action beyond some annoying screeching and mental breakdowns. They're also probably the worst generation of parents imaginable. They are unable to correct their kids but get all huffy and puffy if someone else steps in to correct them. Even their own kids step all over them.
(Its reddit so i have to mention how this is a generalization, obviously ~not all~ are like this)

u/wot_in_ternation Jan 30 '25
Every single living generation suffers from the "only what I care about actually matters" mentality

It's still concerning to look around and see the political apathy though

Where's the optimism? Look at all the jobs in agriculture and domestic servitude that are going to be available. Turns the frown Upside down pretty quickly.
34
u/Al13n_C0d3R Jan 30 '25
Yeah because the job applications to pick strawberries in the ash shadow of the California wild fires like the immigrants were doing and other low pay jobs that historically are taken advantage of by companies, are just flying in from enthusiastic Americans.
The way some people live in a fantasy version of America is crazy

Change it for tiktok. We, millennials, were the ones that got idiotized by YouTube

2
u/ChaosKeeshond Jan 30 '25
Given that Reddit demographics skew towards the 20s, memes like this are just funnier than they should be because they're speaking to a crowd of 29-34 year old millennials and blaming everything on 24-28 year old zoomers.
Like what. You really think those handful of years made such a big difference? Like we didn't grow up with iPhones, Spotify, and YouTube ourselves?
Maybe the youngest zoomers and alphas are on a different cultural wavelength but older zoomers are taking undeserved strays for doing exactly what we did and it makes no sense.

The only real investigative journalism left on this planet is only found on YouTube. Something tells me your corpo commercial funded TV channel based education told you how smart you are, so you went and made this.

u/Lekijocds Jan 30 '25
To quote and paraphrase Michael from Vsauce who was quoting one book I don't remember the name: "every generation thinks it's wiser than the last one and more intelligent than the one who comes after them" something like that.
