Studies that gauge women's preferences are bullshit and often contradict themselves.
You'll see a study saying women prefer men with facial hair immediately followed by one saying they prefer a clean shave. One study will tell you that women prefer men with sharp facial features and a strong jaw while another will tell you they find babyfaced men cuter and more trustworthy as partners.
Granted, there seems to be a general preference towards height, but what exact figure of height is preferred and how much that preference actually influences partner choice is up to anyone's guess.
Women tend to go for men taller than them, men tend to go for women smaller than them.
Being "X" height is not attractive, and people who've tied their self worth to a number like that need to remember not to give a shit and find someone who likes them for who they are.
Exactly, as long as you are taller than them you should be fine and if you are like 8cm (3in?) taller than them (them in heels maybe) you should be golden.
Women tend to go for men taller than them, men tend to go for women smaller than them.
Men care very little whether their spouse is shorter or taller than them. There is a reason women's height preference has reached meme status. If you look at marriage demographics, the distribution of male/female heights in marriage while taking into account the distribution of male/female heights in general shows that an extreme percentage of women prefer taller men, something like 99.5% of them or thereabouts.
Just gonna say the part about men not caring about women's heights is kinda BS. Known a lot of dudes who pretty openly expressed they didn't like taller women. In addition of the women I've been friends with the taller ones, especially the ones who were taller than a lot of guys, struggled finding guys who were comfortable with them being taller than they are. It's not talked about as often but it's similar to the guys who have issues with women being "manly" and whatnot. Just a bunch of insecure nonsense imo but it definitely does exist.
