So sorry, CriticalGerman, it is probably in violation of the Reinheitsgebot.

Not probably, it literally is!

I was mostly making an obscure pun on the Reinheitsgebot literally being a purity requirement, of which I can't imagine any she doesn't fail with flying colors.

But, critical scholar in your footsteps that I walk, I have looked into it and was at first thoroughly conflicted, because it's not actually her yeast (by which we hope she isn't infected in the first place but which, incidentally, as an ingredient would be completely fine) that goes into the beer, but actually her lactic acid bacteria which are indeed not part of the four permissible ingredients water, barley, hops and yeast, but I have found several sources naming as an ingredient in e.g. Berliner Weiße and other sour beers that these sources claim do conform with the Reinheitsgebot.

In the end I found that these beers only conform because the lactic acid bacteria are extracted from one of the ingredients, the malt, and re-added at a later stage, so they don't count as an additional ingredient. This is decidely not the case with bacteria from her genitals, so I believe you are entirely correct.

Thank you for sending me on this journey.

My first thought

No way it’s FDA compliant, it’s 100% fraud/scam if they are selling it as real amouranth yeast

Either they have to state it’s fake and just a marketing thing, or they have to somehow comply with the FDA by using bodily fluids as food. Good luck with that

We don’t have human milk in stores for a reason and that’s legit the most sane bodily fluids that you’d want available

My guess is that at no point does anything that was in her vagina go into the beer. Instead, they probably breed the yeast using her vaginal yeast as the stock. They might even be cross breading it with yeast that is competent at fermenting.

I’m not a yeast expert but wouldn’t that yeast still have human DNA or human stuff in it ? Even after multiple « reproductions » ?

u/EldritchMacaron May 30 '25

Not really, at the end it’s just yeast

I've heard that it’s possible to make beer from the yeasts of a human belly button

Yeast never has human DNA in it. Yeast is a loose group of single celled fungi. There's a zillion different species, not all of them make alcohol.

20% of the FDA was laid off. Odds are getting better for the small human byproduct business owner.
