31
u/GameZedd01 Cheese Lover May 30 '25
All entertainers are awful politically. We pay them to entertain us, not be politicians.
5
7
u/Undernown May 30 '25
Practically speaking almost anything political these days so it's hard not to. Especially cause much of that entertainment in centered in the USA. And when POTUS starts randomly Tweeting about some celebs it's kinda hard for them not to be political.
I think the main issue people have with it is when entertainers are out of touch and still think they can relate to average folk.
7
u/Zinedine_Tzigane May 30 '25
Entertainment and politics are not mutually exclusive. In fact, they often are quite entangled, and always have been.
1
u/GameZedd01 Cheese Lover May 31 '25
I don't need a comedian or a musician telling me their political views. They should tell me about their new movies/shows and music. I don't give a fuck what their view on the current socio-economic political state is or whatever the fuck else. That's not what they're paid for. Unless it's specifically a product about politics, at that point, people know what to expect.
3
u/Zinedine_Tzigane May 31 '25
Again, art can, and often is, political.
Moreover, they should do whatever the fuck they want, they do not exist only to please GameZedd01. Unless you watch their movies, you don't pay them either, no one cares how you think they should behave. Being famous is a form of power and if they feel like using this power given to them, well so be it, who's gonna stop them ?
2
1
u/Shplogan May 30 '25
Yeah but they are also their own people with opinions about different subjects. If you pay them for entertainment then watch the entertainment and ignore the politics. Not that hard.
3
u/angelis0236 Vegemite Victim 🦘🦖 May 30 '25
Yeah but I like his politics so I'm okay with supporting him still.
If you're going to get political you have to be okay with alienating fans and he seems to be.
Plenty of conservative actors that I don't support anymore though. 🫠

elon musk is a piece of shit, and he's dumb in a lot of ways, but in some ways he's really fuckin smart
6
u/randomname_99223 May 30 '25
Someone who’s dumb doesn’t just become the richest man in the world
7
u/big_guyforyou May 30 '25
i got banned from r\worldnews for saying that
14
u/randomname_99223 May 30 '25
Musk may not know how to actually build a functioning car, manage a social media platform or build a rocket. However he sure as hell knows how to exploit people to his own advantage and steal ideas by claiming them as his own.
5
u/calgeorge May 30 '25
Unless they started with rich parents
1
u/randomname_99223 May 30 '25
If Elon had been dumb he would’ve simply stayed rich. He might not be intelligent, but he’s smart. He knows he doesn’t understand rocket science, programming, car manufacturing… so he steals ideas from other people and takes the credit for them (see PayPal and Tesla) while simultaneously sounding like he’s very knowledgable about all these things to the average Joe. This is what allowed him to become the richest man on Earth: playing really dirty.
1
1
u/DrunkInABar May 30 '25
It's not about beeing smart, a true smart person wouldn't try to be the richest. It's useless to yourself and to any other people. It's about beeing allready rich and having good connections. He just happend to have made the right gamble, but the richest guy was allways going to be one of those extremely few allready wealthiest people. There is naturally no other way than luck and the decision of those in power because, of course, it would makes no sense to let anyone else even get at the same level, especially smarter people.

Cats are shitty pets.
Why would anyone want an animal that demands your immediate attention and will piss on or destroy your stuff unless you are submissive to it
Less unpopular opinion, if you are the kind of person that would have to start a gofund me for your pet when it got sick, you should probably not be trying to have kids.
6
u/Mand372 May 30 '25
Why would anyone want an animal that demands your immediate attention and will piss on or destroy your stuff unless you are submissive to it
Cuz cats are great little companions.
3
u/IronSeraph OC Memer May 30 '25
Here's an unpopular opinion- people who prefer dogs to cats can't handle having to earn love so they get a pet that will love them unconditionally.
Dogs smell awful, constantly destroy anything they can, and regularly piss and shit where they shouldn't. And even when they only go in the yard, your yard is still covered in dog shit (that they'll probably roll in before coming back inside)
-2
u/ChaseTheMystic May 30 '25
You can train a dog to go outside lol just like a cat in a litterbox
I've also heard of dogs crapping on things when their mad.
Out of the two, guess which one is quicker to spray your stuff because you need to type out an important email
4
u/IronSeraph OC Memer May 30 '25
I've owned cats all my life and they've never sprayed anything, and usually neutering them gets rid of their inclination to do so. And you don't have to train a cat to go in the litterbox, they just do it lol
-3
u/ChaseTheMystic May 30 '25
None of the cats throughout your whole life have ever sprayed anything?
If you say so
2
u/IronSeraph OC Memer May 30 '25
Lmao yes, none of them have. They really don't do it if you have them neutered. I have 2 male cats right now, and neither has ever sprayed anything, and they're trained not to scratch the furniture as well. Not too hard if you're a competent pet owner lol

u/The_Knife_Pie May 30 '25 edited May 31 '25
A certain level of eugenics (whether through certain unfit people being left to their inevitable natural death or technology to prevent their birth) is required for functioning societies.
There you go, an unpopular opinion.
1
u/Techury May 30 '25
Certainly an unpopular opinion, one might even say disgusting to even consider. I don't feel like debating why its an unpopular opinion, im genuinely curious why you believe this. Im not pro life by any means but this seems like the complete opposite spectrum where we are trying to control birth (and by extension deprive it from those deemed unfit or unworthy).
8
u/The_Knife_Pie May 30 '25 edited May 30 '25
There is a level of genetic abnormality that makes you a burden without redeeming qualities. In the west we already do this, whether you like it or not. In the EU 92% of foetuses with downs are aborted. In the US as much as 93% of them are depending in surveyed pop. This number is effectively 100% in some countries, Iceland has on average 1 downs birth per year for example and the rate in Denmark is >99%.
My opinion is only unpopular right up until the doctor tells you your child has downs. Of women with positive screenings ~94% of them say they would get an abortion. Very quickly does this become the overwhelmingly popular opinion in practise, sometimes even the universally accepted one.
3
u/Salt_Master_Prime May 30 '25
That opinion is an uncomfortable truth that no one wants to acknowledge. If people weren't busy lying to themselves and virtue signaling, this wouldn't be unpopular.
4

u/matt24671 May 30 '25
Kanye West, although a bad person, is the second best musical act of the last 100 years
0
u/Tychus_Balrog May 30 '25
That kind of absolute statement would require knowledge and evaluation of every musician across the world since 1925.
6
u/matt24671 May 30 '25
Since it’s an opinion it actually requires none of that
-1
u/Tychus_Balrog May 30 '25
In that case it's just an uninformed opinion. You have no idea whether there's hundreds of musicians from across the globe in that timeframe, that you would actually prefer even more.
1
u/matt24671 May 30 '25
That not how opinions work, this only asked for an unpopular opinion. To act like you need to have an encyclopedic knowledge of every musical act on earth to form an opinion like that is just ridiculous lol
1
u/Tychus_Balrog May 30 '25
I think we just disagree on this. I think it's a perfectly valid opinion to say that your favourite musician is Kanye West.
But to say such an absolute statement as him being the second best in 100 years, is just impossible to say, when you don't know how many other musicians you would actually like even more.
1
u/matt24671 May 30 '25
It’s not an absolute statement though it’s an opinion.
1
u/Tychus_Balrog May 30 '25
I'm not saying that you're trying to say it as a fact. Like as if it's objectively true to everyone.
But you're saying it's your opinion that he ranks that high. Without knowing whether, if you knew all musicians, that it would actually be your opinion that he is outranked by hundreds of others.
So it's an uninformed opinion. Making an absolute statement of how you would feel, with all the knowledge, without having that knowledge.
1
u/matt24671 May 30 '25
An uninformed opinion is still an opinion, but your logic no one should have any opinions on anything because they don’t have an encyclopedic knowledge of the subject. It’s just not how reality works
1
u/Tychus_Balrog May 30 '25
I'm not saying people shouldn't have opinions. I'm just saying you shouldn't make such absolute statements. Only a sith deals in absolutes.
But you can definitely say that Kanye is your second favourite artist.
