You! This would not have happened if you...
Had parked the car yourself.
Took away her keys.
Not said she should just leave it wherever she feels like.
You had 3 chances to prevent it!

You're looking at it wrong. The house is at fault for existing. It should have shimmed to the side when the car was flyîng at it

The comment below yours is actually arguing that the cammer deserves a ticket for going too fast for the conditions. Someone will always argue against the obvious.

As someone who hasn’t t-boned or ran over anyone ever, I think there’s a case for maybe don’t fly past a bunch of vehicles stopped on the side in case someone is trying to cross.
80% red light runner 20% uncautious driver
After all, I’ve only heard “drive defensively” all of my life.
7
u/Aggravating_Dog8043 7d ago
Sure, but it doesn't change liability here. The runner was masked by the cars on the left.

u/WolfDilf 7d ago
I get that, but he could have saved himself a lot of grief and some money too by just being careful.

u/mochaphone 6d ago
Those cars were waiting at a left turn signal and had nothing to do with the straight lanes, it's only the fault of the red light runner here
3
u/WolfDilf 6d ago
You are answering a question no one asked. No one said the cars standing still had anything to do with a red light runner.
Now, while legally the fault does lie on the red light runner, common sense would dictate to proceed with caution when your visibility is obstructed.

You and I are unpopular in threads like this, but I agree with you. I felt super nervous watching the cammer drive that fast past a canyon of stopped cars blocking vision. You never know what kind of pedestrians or motorcycles, or animals or whatnot might pop out of the gaps.
This time it was a car and it ruined the cammers day and possibly their automobile.

Easily your fault. You had the green light, and they were running the red. Your insurance will find you 100% guilty, drop you from coverage, and send you to prison for doing this.

but yeah, slow down when you're entering an intersection when you can see nothing, sightlines are blocked. slow down when traveling into stopped traffic

In florida, you slow down for green lights if you want to survive. People just blast through them like they don't even exist.

The car that drove out into the path of the video car is to blame.. however the driver could have avoided this incident by driving a little bit more defensively.. entering an area where lots of stationary/slow moving vehicles like this you should really be reducing your speed and raising your awareness of the other vehicles around you, especially since you are approaching a junction and don't have a clear view of what traffic may conflict with your intended path.

The guy running the red light.
But if you are quickly passing a long stream of cars who are stopped up at an intersection...this should give some hints to slow down as there may be a reason they are moving very slow. The way the car was slowly moving suggests a mechanical or medical problem.

I hate to say this, but you cannot enter the intersection unless it is clear. Traffic already IN the intersection has priority.
Was this person in the intersection? I can't see.

An insurance adjuster will more than likely split the liability with a substantial portion going to the cross traffic driver. The underlying principle is that drivers are supposed to avoid causing and attempt to prevent collisions. Passing those other cars which limits your forward view matters, especially reactive to your speed. Add that the other car may have become trapped in the intersection in the midst of a legal passing and the whole matter will be decided by talking with both drivers and any witnesses.

In Pa it would be your fault because the front of your vehicle hit another driver. They say some bullshit about always being in control of your vehicle. I came over a blind hill to enter 95 and what I saw once over the hill was a drunk driver who reversed into a cab full of drunks completely blocking the shoulder and an active right lane on 95. All I could do was slam on my brakes and slide into the back of the cab. None of these assholes had any flashers or any lights whatsoever,at 11:30 at night. So I got sued for damages to the cab because I was the last one to crash. It didn’t matter that the only choice I had was do what I did(crash into the cabbies trunk) or mow down a bunch of idiots blocking the road.

u/Lucidcranium042 7d ago

u/Immediate-Rub3807 7d ago
Well it’s obviously the other drivers fault but if you weren’t going so fast and been looking ahead you’d have seen this idiot and slowed down.
1
u/HeadMoose 7d ago
Well, this guy went speeding past all the vehicles and didn't look both ways. It wasn't his fault, but I am sure he could've slowed up at the light and not had to spend a week of his time with talking to insurance and trying to buy a new car. Just drive defensively. There are a lot of distracted morons out there. Stay safe.

The car under the speed limit and with the greenlight is likely to be found legally right. But….: There’s a huge gulf between being right and being wise. Anytime you’re the only vehicle moving at speed through a canyon of cars you’re asking for trouble.
