So this is just a plain bar graph - not sure the presentation of the data helped it in any way. Maybe if the data was presented on a world map in some way….

It is perfectly fine using a bar graph over a map if the main purpose is to compare the count of country name prefixes/suffixes.
The difference in country sizes may make it difficult to do that.

I'm sorry but what is supposed to be the grouping criteria here?

I'm looking at the cited wikipedia source for the "other" countries and no where does it list all those countries starting with "the".

I would have thought the United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and United States of America would be grouped under UNITED

Looking at another website, https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/official-names-of-countries, a lot of countries don't really use "The" as the first word.

And what do you mean by "No official name"? Can a country really not have an official name?

I guess it’s for countries like Canada or Malaysia which names are just that without any attribute.

They don’t start with “the,” but you are supposed to say “the,” because they are “the thing of thing”.

I don’t see your logic on the “United” thing.

Indeed, a country can just not have an official name. Ukraine, for example, is just “Ukraine.”

Feels like “The United…” should be a valid category

The United Mexican States

The United States of America

The United Kingdom

In that case all variations of Republic should be counted together

A pareto chart could be beneficial here.

Seeing the leading categories here is requiring me jumping left and right, whereas a pareto chart would make it much easier to discern the top official names prefixes.

"Democratic Republic of" before a country's name is usually a sign of authoritarianism.

Entires in "Other states" were not used.
